Mud Bug Mayhem Off Road Bike Races in Baton Rouge
New York's Lake Placid IronMan Triathlon is featured this weekend on Sunday,
Oct. 19, on ESPN2 at 12:30 p.m. At 5 p.m. that same Sunday there will be a
25th anniversary show of IronMan
races.
Congratulations to all the Louisiana runners who participated in last
weekend's Chicago Marathon. I got to watch the Long Beach Marathon in
southern California over the weekend while in the area visiting my
daughters. There was a huge crowd for the event just south of Los Angeles. I
was especially impressed by the large contingent of roller bladers. It was a
warm day by any standard for a 26.2-mile effort -- running or rolling.

Good luck to all the Louisiana triathletes traveling to Conroe, TX for a big half IronMan-distance race outside of Houston. There should be a large Louisiana contingent there as there will be in Clermont, FL for the IronMan going on there this month.
Benjamin Hewett of the Northshore just got back from the Durango Marathon n
Colorado and gives rave reviews to the event. He said Rocky Mountain scenery
was incredible running through the valley with mountains on both sides and
all the colors changing was breath taking. The course was not difficult he
said, but the elevation at 6,800 feet made it difficult to breathe. For

Weekend Velodrome Report Posted
From Josie Babin
Here are the results from last week's district velodrome meet in Baton
Rouge:
The Sprint Events.
We had a light turnout for our end of season event but some good
racing nonetheless. Some of our newer racers are showing off the
speed they've achieved during the season. Rob Luker (MFS) and Brian
Jordan (NOBC) duked it out over three sprints for the title and were neck
and neck for the timed events. Will Bujanda (MFS) is nipping at the
heels of teammate Farrell Crane in the sprints --looks like having
super sprinter Jeff LeBauve as a coach is paying off! We were able
to do some mixing and matching for the team sprint, which meant that
Randy Legeai (NOBC) ended up in three of four teams -- what a trooper!
Thanks to all who came out to race and thank you to Brian Apsey,
Chasin Frew, and Adrian Percy who volunteered their time to help out.
I also thank Will Bujanda and Red Bull who made sure we were pepped
up for the event!
Remember, part two of our district track meet is this Saturday, Oct. 18!
