"Never desert your own line of talent. Be what nature intended you for, and
you will succeed." Sydney Smith
I saw the ULL on-campus triathlon drew nearly 100 participants. I am sure
the LSU version of an on-campus triathlon will draw nearly that many in a
couple of weeks when it's held in Baton Rouge. These events usually start
with the run and end with a pool swim. Word is that Bill Burke's first
AbitaMan Triathlon in New Orleans will feature a pool swim at the Univeristy
of New Orleans.
Congrats to Chuck George and all the Race for the Cure 5km volunteers who
put on the event in New Orleans last Sunday. Check out the results at
NOTC.org. Baton Rouge Race for the Cure 5km plans are underway for the March
6 event and organizers could use some volunteers. There will be a meeting
Monday, Oct. 13 at the Mary Bird Perkins Center next to the Lady of the Lake
Hospital on Essen Lane in Baton Rouge. For more information on how to get
involved, call 225/324-9559 or 225/927-4463.
The Lafayette Race for the Cure 5km is set for March 20.

Attached is the early draft of 2004 fitness events that I've begun receiving for the
upcoming printed edition of the annual Louisiana Multisport Report.
Encourage race directors to start setting their 2004 event dates so they can
be included in our annual printed magazine sent free to multisporters all
over the state.
For those in or near the Greater New Orleans area this weekend, don't forget
the Oct. 11, Saturday free Stretching Clinic (from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.). It
would be nice if you could let Michael Babin and his crew in Kenner know if
you are coming. Check out the attachment.
I am in the middle of selling ads for the annual printed edition of the
Louisiana Multisport Report, which is what enables folks to get the
once-a-year magazine sent to them free. If you like the annual publication,
put in a good word to your area physical therapists, sports retailers, event
organizers, bike shops or whoever you think could benefit from advertising in our
publication. This is our tenth year of publication thanks to so many of you
out there in the multisport world. Email me with your U.S. mail address for
ad rates and publication specifications.
Collegiate Track Omnium Set at BR Velodrome
From William Cheramie
This upcoming Saturday, Oct. 11, LSU Cycling will be hosting Baton
Rouge's first collegiate track omnium at the BREC velodrome. Racing starts
at 8:30 a.m. and should end around noon. The event is open to collegiate
cyclists only (those designated as full time students by their university),
but we would like to invite all to attend and support the LSU Cycling Team;
Louisiana's only collegiate cycling team.
We are expecting riders from Auburn, Baylor, Texas A&M, University of
Houston, Midwestern State University, and Florida. We realize that the
LSU-Florida football game is that afternoon, but for those that have never
been to a collegiate cycling event, they are quite different
than the typical USCF race. So, all you alumni and cycling fans, consider
spending your Saturday morning with the Tigers at the BREC velodrome
before you head to the football game.

Special team awards will be given to the top three finishers in each division. This four-hour event is a fund raising adventure race to help Donnie, Tonya, and Logan Jarrell.
