"So many deeds cry out to be done and always urgently the world goes
on. Times passes; 10,000 years are too long. Seize the day, seize the
hour." Mao Tse-tung
Baton Rouge-based USA Triathlon official Stanton Cadow is working on
puttingtogether an officials' clinic, possibly in conjunction with
the April 22,2006 Louisiana Triathlon.
Marc Salvetti reminds everyone that the 2006 Crawfishman Triathlon
set forSt. Tammany Parish will be May 7.
Another multisport date to remember is the PelicanMan Duathlon. While
plans are still very tentative, hopes are to hold the event at its
home venue in St. Bernard Parish. Remember, this was an area heavily
damaged by Hurricane Katrina. It may have to be moved to the Belle
Chasse area in Plaquemines Parish. It is traditionally held on the
first Sunday in April, which this year would be April 2, 2006. Stay
tuned for details. In previous years, it's been a 2-mile run, 10-mile
bike, and finishing with a 2-mile run.
Teresa White of northwest Louisiana also noted that April 29, 2006 is
thedate of the LOCOfest Off-Road Bike Fest set for Eddie Jones Park
near Shreveport. For more information call 318.218.3761.
Does anyone out there by any wild chance have results to the very old
racecalled the Lakeshore Event Duathlon held on Labor Day for many
years inBaton Rouge? Neil Robichaux is looking for results.
Has anyone heard about dates of the Caney Triathlon in Minden for
2006? I didn't get lots of bike club tour dates or competitive
cycling event dates. Anyone got some of those dates yet for 2006?

<<Baton Rouge Rolls "Good", Real "Good for Katrina Cyclists>>
From Philip Baker
The two distributions at FEMA Baker and FEMA Airport 3 in the Baton
Rougearea on Saturday and Sunday went really well. Saturday we
distributed 200 adult and children's bikes (a real grueling effort)
and Sunday we gave out 94 mostly adult bikes, in just two hours.
Thanks to all who gave up energyand time to do the work on both days.
Now only one more distribution next Saturday at Howell Park Gym in
north Baton Rouge at 9a.m. We probably have about 150 adult bikes to
distribute then our deed is done. Thanks to all.
