"Life isn't a matter of milestones, but of moments." Rose Kennedy
Remember, today is Pearl Harbor Day. This was the day that Hawaii was
attacked and brought the U.S. to enter World War II. Plus, today is
the birthday of one of the state's first professional triathletes:
Jan Meador Ripple.
Congratulations to all those who did the Baton Rouge Beach Marathon
and the Acadiana Half Marathon in Lafayette last weekend. It was
amazingly hot and humid and took a toll on runners in those events.
If only the race had been staged on Monday!
Remember, too, that this coming Monday, Dec. 12th is the advertising
materials deadline for those including information in the printed
edition of the Louisiana Multisport Report.
How did the LaMBRA (Louisiana Mississippi Bicycle Racing
Association) annual meeting go last weeked? Any of you competitive
cyclists out there care to give the rest of us a report?
Keep sending those 2006 fitness event dates my way for the printed
edition of the Louisiana Multisport Report. I would like the printed
calendar to be as comprehensive as possible. I know not every event
organizer can give dates at this time, but the sooner you do so the
sooner your event's is more securely locked in the fitness scene. I
know many multisporters plan a good deal of their training around
dates listed in the printed edition of the Louisiana Multisport
Report.
Every now and then I find myself reminding folks about how this
little enewsletter project works. I've probably offended folks from
time to time, mainly by not mentioning them or listing their names
in result postings. I apologize now for those I will offend and
those whom I have offended already. Please keep in mind, I don't
purposely intend to neglect anyone and in fact work as time allows
to recognize all those in Louisiana that I can. My notes are mainly
compilations of emails I've gotten from folks all over cyberspace.
If you want recognition, send me the information and I will use it
if I can. Sometimes, I lose emails, occasionally forget them, or
can't find them as I work on "remote" email set ups working out of
town from time to time. But don't send book-length race reports
pretty please, though sometimes I can remember to include them as an
attachment. I prefer to use this as a forum that gives snap shots of
accomplishments and listings of upcoming events.
Again, if your story has been neglected even when you've emailed it,
I apologize. Sometimes I just miss stuff. This is a volunteer effort.
Adventure Race Team Backpacker based in Baton Rouge did an
outstanding job of winning a regional championship adventure race
championship race. Adventure racer Darius Sampey is sending me
details on his team's victory over some very accomplished teams from
across the U.S. Stay tuned for the details.
