Congratulations to all those who did the River Cities Triathlon in
Benton in northwest Louisiana and to all the youngsters who did the
youth triathlon he day before the main event. Get ready for BR
Triathlon Club's big youth triathlon coming up at the end of the
month.
Lots of multisporters are busy getting ready for the early September
CajunMan Triathlon in Lafayette and lots more are sad they didn't
get into the event since it filled so fast . But fear not, because
there's an equally good event going on in Natchitoches called the
Meat Pie Triathlon set for late September.
All you event directors out there, if you've set your 2006 fitness
dates already, share them so we can begin putting together a
statewide schedule of events. The question for 2006 is if cycling
event directors will set a calendar of events upon which athletes
can rely. Yes, that's the question.
Don't forget to start planning your ads for the printed edition of
the Louisiana Multisport Report. Details for advertising in the
printed edition will be coming out soon. This is a great media to
thank your event sponsors for their involvement in your events.
Multisporter Ben Hawn of New Iberia, New Orleans cyclist Randy
Legeai, off-road rider Josh Rosby, and others have been busy working
on Louisiana rankings of multisporters, competitive cyclists, and
adventure racers. I sure would like to include a list of competitive
swimmers as well, but I've not seen such a list in a long time.
It was great seeing long-time Baton Rouge-based cycling event
coordinator Jon Anderson in the area. He returned to work in his
home state of Minnesota about two years ago. He rode the River Road
training race this week while down South selling some real estate.
Anderson was pivotal in bringing completive cycling back to the
Bayou State. Anderson will forever be noted as the man who
revitalized competitive bike racing in Louisiana.
Oct. 8 is set for the Louisiana Mississippi Bicycle Racing (LaMBRA)
team time trial championships, presented by Baton Rouge-based Tiger
Cycling Foundation. Gather your teams of four competitive cyclists
and get ready to ride the River Road just south of the LSU campus in
the Baton Rouge area.

<<Shreveport Area Bike Races Set for Weekend>>
From Alan Moore
It'll be fun, it'll be hot, it'll be fast, it'll be uphill in some
spots. That's the Rocky Mount Omnium going on this weekend up in the
northwest part of Louisiana, north of Bossier City in a place called
Rocky Mount. It's two days of road racing. So if you're a little
tired of the criterium scene, we have roads here in good condition
and even a few miles of new pavement. We have $3,300 in prize money
to give out and about $1,200 in merchandise prizes, too! You don't
have to race both days to be eligible for the omnium prizes but you
know it'll be good for you to do so.
It'll be hot so hydrate well before you come out here. We'll have
water, energy drinks, and lots of ice on hand. Everyone gets a
bottle of pre-mixed Amino Vital when they register. We'll have food
and smoothies out here on Sunday. Our merchandise prizes for
Saturday include restaurant coupons that you can use Saturday night
in Shreveport to keep your meal expenses down. There'll be lap
primes and race finish prizes both days.
Saturday's race is a 14-mile loop that features a few short climbs
but the highlight is 8 miles of board-flat new -- yes that means
NEW -- asphalt that'll dare you to try a breakaway. It'll be fast.
Sunday's course will have a mile neutral rollout that then
introduces you to the first of three climbs at the beginning of each
12.8-mile lap, the last climb features a grade up to 10 percent over
a quarter-mile with a turn at the top. Low rollers after that
make for another fast cruise thru the piney woods. If you like speed
in a road race, here's a chance to crank it up.
Head over to www.teamlasport.org for more info. Online registration
ends at midnight Thursday on Active.com
<<Cycling Track Championships Set>>
From Randy Legeai
I have put up what I have of last Saturday's cycling Track Omnium
which included some Louisiana/Mississippi district championship
events. http://www.gnofn.org/~nobc//2005/trkser_5_res.htm
I spoke to velodrome race coordinator Ben Schuler about what were
the championship track events held so far, because it has gotten
rather confusing due to all of the weather-related cancellations and
resulting combinations of different meets.
They are:
Track championship events held to date:
--Held on July, 2
Team Pursuit
Olympic Sprint (aka Team Sprint)
--Held on Aug. 6,
Individual Pursuit
Match Sprints
Points Race
The remainder of the competitive cycling events will be held at the
next track meet, which has not yet been scheduled.

From Ken Browne
Recumbent made by Vision and is several years old and in very good
condition. It has the under-seat steering configuration, can be
setup for short or long wheel base, and is built for a medium to
tall rider, (I'm 6'1"). The individual I bought it from raced and
toured, so it has a few upgraded components that he added as well as
a set of paniers. I wanted a recumbant bike due to neck problems,
and I would recommend this type of bike to anyone who has a bad neck
and wants to ride. I bought it second hand a little over a year ago
and though it is very comfortable, I just haven't gotten the use out
of it that I thought I would.
If this is something you can help with or pass on, I'd like to get
$700. My cell 985.768,8602, e-mail:
