Congratulations to all those who did the Lake Placid IronMan race in
New York and the Caney Triathlon in Minden. There was a great turn
out for a safely staged Tiger Cycling Foundation Criterium held in
Denham Springs, located just outside of Baton Rouge.
Ben Cherbonnier of Baton Rouge reports there's a free running race
tonight – at least it's free to all Club South Runners members. It
starts at 7 p.m. at Highland Road Park, the site of many high school
cross-country events. The race is run on the grounds of the park.
Randy Legeai has posted a number of photos, minus a great photo of
yours truly, on the internet. The images were captured by Sharon
Scheib during races involving the masters and category 1,2,3
criterium races held in Denham Springs. The photos have been placed
on the New Orleans Bicycle Club (NOBC) website at:

Oct. 8 has been set for the rescheduled competitive cyclists team time
trial. Putting on the rescheduled event will be the Tiger Cycling
Foundation and the race will be held on the River Road outside of
Baton Rouge.

coming from LaSalle Park, which is located at 3000 Downs Blvd. in

ICE - In Case of Emergency Contact Info
Forwarded via Kristi Darby
A campaign encouraging people to enter an emergency contact number in
their mobile phone's memory under the heading "ICE" (i.e. In Case of
Emergency), has rapidly spread throughout the world as a particular
consequence of last week's terrorist attacks in London.
Originally established as a nation-wide campaign in the United
Kingdom, ICE allows paramedics or police to be able to contact a
designated relative / next-of-kin in an emergency situation. The idea
is the brainchild of East Anglian Ambulance Service paramedic Bob
Brotchie and was launched in May this year. Bob, 41, who has been a
paramedic for 13 years, said: "I was reflecting on some of the calls
I've attended at the roadside where I had to look through the mobile
phone contacts struggling for information on a shocked or injured
person.
Almost everyone carries a mobile phone now, and with ICE we'd know
immediately who to contact and what number to ring. The person may
even know of their medical history." By adopting the ICE advice, your
mobile will help the rescue services quickly contact a friend or
relative - which could be vital in a life or death situation. It only
takes a few seconds to do, and it could easily help save your life.
Why not put ICE in your phone now? Simply select a new contact in
your phone book, enter the word 'ICE' and the number of the person
you wish to be contacted. It's so simple that everyone can do it.
Please do.

Man, talk about oppressive heat! The seventh and last of the 2005 Mike
Simpson CrossRoads Time Trial series went off tonight with a smaller
group of racers. The previous 6 time trials had seen "crowds" of 30+
each time but the heat kept many away and 16 brave souls took the hot
asphalt on. It wasn't pretty: the heat index was 107F, virtually no
wind, and a 60 percent humidity weren't a good combination. But we
rode on! We do it again next year so we'll see you there!
