"Men greet each other with a sock on the arm, women with a hug, and the hug wears better in the long run." Edward Hoagland
Good luck to all the Louisiana triathletes headed up to New York for the Lake Placid IronMan event and to all those doing the Caney Triathlon just outside the town of Minden in north Louisiana. Congrats, too, to all those who raced the T-Gator Triathlon in Lake Charles and the Mad Potters bike races in Biloxi.
I hope the attachment is accessible with a great story by Baton
Rouge cyclist Sam Irwin on long-time Baton Rouge rider Jason Sager.
Professional mountain biker Sager rode on with Lance Armstrong, and in fact
beat him on one occasion in an off-road duathlon.

It was good to see Louisiana's most famous former professional triathlete Jan Meador Ripple on the group ride on Baton Rouge's River Road. She's going to be a grandmother any day now, but she still rode well and hung tough with a very strong and large group on a hot Tuesday afternoon.
Saturday, April 22 is the date of the 2006 Louisiana Triathlon at New Roads.
If there was confusion on dates in my last enote, let it now be known that
April 22 is the date for the 2006 event in Pointe Coupée Parish. Stay tuned
for details.
My notes on calendar dates has generated some good chatter on the internet.
Keep those 2006 fitness event dates coming.
Sam Houston Jones of Lake Charles is trying to set some 2006 multisport
dates. Anyone got any thoughts on his dates for possible 2006 events in the
Lake Charles area? These are just tentative. That means, these dates are
just ideas and only ideas at this point. If you've got other dates and
considerations to offer as dates are being set, email me or Jones.
Tentative dates for the 4th Annual T-Gator Series:
Tentative TGator Duathlon: Feb.19, 2006
Tentative TGator Tri #1: April 2, 2006
Tentative TGator Tri #2: June 11, 2006 (or June 18) depending
on what race director Brad Colwell does with Indian Creek
TGator Tri #3: July 16, 2006
Other tentative dates:
Governor's Triathlon (Beginners Only!): April 8, 2006
Holy Toledo Triathlon Challenge: April 9, 2006
Definitely set is the Louisiana Triathlon at New Roads for April 22, 2006.
Randy Legeai reports that a number of photos taken by Sharon Scheib at the
Mad Potter's criterium in Biloxi (masters and Categories 1,2,3 races only) have been added to the NOBC
website at: http://www.gnofn.org/~nobc//2005/madptr_res.htm

Baton Rouge's Farr Horse Park Point of Discussion
Baton Rouge's Farr Park Horse Activities Center conceptual master plan will
be introduced at a public meeting to be held at Farr Park, 6400 River Road,
July 21. The plans will also include information on how residents of the
parish can provide feedback to the BREC planners.
Farr Horse Park is where lots of riders park while cycling on the River Road
south of the LSU campus. It is also the site of one of Club South Runners
events usually held during the summer.
The open community meeting will be held from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. There will
be a short presentation at 5 p.m. of the master plan. The planners and staff
will be available to meet and discuss the plan in detail with interested
citizens. The information from this meeting will be used to help refine the
master plan.
The plans were designed after "Imagine Your Parks" community meetings in
2003 where residents asked for general upgrades to the Horse Activities
Center. With the successful passage of the property tax on the Nov. 2, 2004
ballot, BREC is moving forward to plan and construct key initiatives
outlined in the "Imagin! e Your Parks" plan.
Farr Park is one of the first of BREC's parks that is undergoing renovations
as part of the "Imagine Your Parks" Strategic Plan. Other BREC facilities
currently being renovated include Webb Park and Santa Maria Golf Courses. In
addition, City Park and North Sherwood Forest Park are two of 12 park sites
that are being upgraded to a "Community Park" level of programming.

The Late Donnie Jarrell Lives on Via Cyberspace
From Salty Galvis
In case you're interested in reading it, we've posted my eulogy to the late
multisporter Donnie Jarrell on his website, www.donzaroo.com
<www.donzaroo.com> . One of the things that those of us close to Donnie
really appreciated was his spiritual faith, and those of us who spoke at his
memorial service agreed that it was our opportunity to pass along to a huge
crowd of people there (probably close to a thousand), the message of hope
and faith for a better life. Call 985.727.2345; 504.576.2050 for details.
