basis." Margaret Bonnano
Good luck to all the Louisiana folks doing the Ironman Arizona this
weekend.
This weekend is the DuLaPlace and Bare Bones Duathlons in St. John
the
Baptist Parish and Sulphur, respectively.
Bob Sigerson of Covington said there was a lack of Team Earthquake
and Gecko
multisporters at the Opelousas Duathlon because they were at Abitaman
Triathlon #1 either racing or volunteering. Too bad that these
things run
into each other from a scheduling standpoint. Let's see what happens
this weekend.
There's still room for more participants in the April 23 Louisiana
Triathlon at New Roads.
Check lawired.com for details.
What some call the best and most organized century of the year is
coming up Saturday, May 7
at Heminbough Plantation in St. Francisville with the Miles for
Smiles tour put on by
the Lions Clubs of Louisiana. Lots of competitive cyclists join the
mix each year to make
for a great training ride to put in lots of miles. Register via
active.com.
Alexandria multisporter Don Cassano Jr.
dcassano_jr@...>
had a
response to where were all the Red River Tri folks were for the
Opelousas
Duathlon championship race. Actually, he noted, seven
raced, one voluntered at the finish, and a few picked there
packets up that morning and decided not to race secondary to
conditions!
Those conditions are what dictated why some did not race in the Red
River
Triathlon Club jerseys. "Do not be fooled, we were there. BRTri was
obvisiously missing one
of theirs? Kenny?"

Bike Tour de Donzaroo Being Planned for May 14
From Salty Galvis
Team Earthquake and The Donnie Jarrell Committee announce the
scheduling of
the third annual Tour de Donzaroo, a bicycle tour in St. Tammany
Parish held
as a fundraiser on behalf of Donnie Jarrell, who continues his fight
against
amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS, a/k/a "Lou Gehrig's Disease"),
and his
wife Tonya and daughter Logan.
This year the tour will be held on the beautiful open roads of St.
Tammany
Parish north of Covington (including some of the roads used a few
years
ago by the New Orleans Bicycle Club for the road-race stage of the
Tour de
Louisiane), and we invite all cyclists to come participate and help
this
worthy cause. We will have food, drink and a band playing music
after the
tour is concluded, so come on out and join the party!
Further details will be announced in the near future, so please note
the
date of May 14 on your calendar.
For Sale
From Keathleen Callaghan
Nice 1986 model Santana Marathon tandem for sale. The original blue
paint
job, with only a few minor nicks, looks great! It's a good size at
22 x 21,
and perfect for either two strong riders who can really move at a
good clip
or two riders of very differing abilities, adult or child, who
normally
can't ride together. A couple of years ago we had it cleaned, lubed
and
adjusted, and had a cycle computer and new tires and tubes installed
on it.
It also has a rear rack. In addition, we have a kid-back attachment
and a
tandem-sized roof rack tray available.
The reason we want to sell it is that we don't have time to ride it
anymore.
We keep it inside, so it doesn't get exposed to humidity, temperature
changes or excessive dust and dirt. Check out a picture at
www.kathleencallaghan.com/tandem.jpg
I talked with a Santana rep who told me that the bike is worth about
$1,500
and the child stoker conversion attachment is worth at least another
$150.
For $1,100 though, we'll sell everything as a complete package,
including
the bike, the child conversion kit and the rack tray. Only serious
inquiries, please. Phone 225.338.9340 or e-mail
