DuDonnie Du Called Success
From Sue Boudreaux

What a great two days we have had getting ready and finally presenting
another edition of the DuDonnieDu multisport event in Mandeville! I
can't thank the volunteers and participants enough for coming out to
help or race.
We had volunteers all Saturday and Sunday helping us out. What a
tribute to our benefactor, Donnie Jarrell. There were many of you,
and to single you out would put me in a bind to remember you all .
But special kudos to Jason Miller, who was a big help both days and
also Jacqui Baron and Dave, from Cross Gates in Slidell. What would
we have done without the muscle boys, who stayed late today and
helped load up the truck. No doubt, the biggest volunteer of all was
Captain Ben, who has been working on this event for months! Any
volunteers who did not get a t-shirt, please let me know, and we
will order one for you.
Finally, a great thanks to Shannon Allison. Our group prayer with
Donnie was a very special moment, and reminds us why we are out
there working and having fun. I'll never forget it. We love you
Donzaroo!
Once again the Donnie Jarrell Foundation, Team Earthquake and Bill
Burke's Premier Event Management have put on a top-notch race. What
a great (painful) kick off to the 2005 season. Congratulations to all!

LaMBRA Competitive Cyclists Gather for Time Trial in Shreveport
From Alan Moore
First off, our Shreveport time trial for the Louisiana Mississippi
Alabama Bicycle Racing Association (LaMBRA) had to be one of the
smoother time trials Team LaS'port ever put on up here in Shreveport.
Enough volunteers, a lot of riders, and good weather except for that
darn wind! But despite the wind, the racers who showed up today put
in some excellent times, some even faster than what they did last
year.
First thanks for the volunteers. My course marshals: Jon Whitten,
Darlene Walker at the first turn; Jeff Wellborn, Brenda Antee at the
crossroads turn, along with Caddo Parish Deputy David Bartlett (a
bike racer himself); Scott Langford, Tim Dollar at the third, off-
camber turn. At registration: Susie Brown (who also worked as a
spotter) and Jamie Johnson. At the start line: Kevin Rivet as holder,
and Paul Ziesel, who called riders to the line. Beverly Nezat and
Russ Walker, who showed up to volunteer but I didn't have
anything for them to do! Bob Crosby, who ferried racers to the start
line and swept the course in a brand new Toyota Tundra from the Yokem
dealership.
Unusual thing: we actually had people there to WATCH the time trial!
Wow, a crowd (of sorts) at a LaMBRA time trial!
The Officials: Micaela Crooks and Matthew Miller, cutting their teeth
on their first USCF event as brand new officials. We finally moved
into the 21st century using a computer with an Excel spreadsheet to
figure out the placings!
Unfortunate thing: Only three riders in the Category 1-2-3's. No
LaMBRA points but they made a butt-load of money for a TT.
It figures: Tim Perry (TCC) would have won the Cat. 1-2-3's but he
was in the Masters 45+ and won it with the best overall time. Scott
Gurganus (LaS'port) would have won the Masters 35+ but he was in the
Category 4's instead and got 5th.
Thanks to Yokem Toyota-Scion, River Cities Bike and Fitness,
Sportspectrum, and the LSU Pecan Station for their support. I did
forget one person. It figures. Terry Miliam! He put up the tents and
the start and finish lines. Brought the water coolers, signs, and the
radios. And then did the time trial himself! He cranked out a 28:05,
good enough for 10th place in the Cat. 5s and got his first LCCS
points!
Thanks for everything, Terry. A lot of what you see out there is due
to him. In all, we had 53 entrants. Would have liked to have had more
but we had some good racers here.

Louisiana Adventure Racing Underway for the Season
From Laurence Cohen
The adventure race (AR) season opened last weekend at the Bonnet Carré
Spillway outside of Norco. It was a sprint race with distances of
about five miles running, ten miles off road cycling , four miles
canoeing and fifty yards of swimming in chilly lake water as a short
cut. The weather was perfect as were the course conditions --
virtually no mud. Massey's Professional Outfitters picked up where
they left off -- winning the overall title. This year, Massey's has
to compete in the all-male category since the team's star woman --
Julie Standing -- is expecting her first child later this year. So we
have added Doug Cousineau to the team. He has done adventure races
all over the world and is without equal in this area. Our team
suffered keeping up with him the whole race.
The overall result was unusual because only once in any race had an
all male team won. If Saturday's standings are any indicator, the
men's team will be a regular breaker of the finish line tape. The
coed division, without Massey's , should be more competitive. Looks
like a great start to the season. Hope to see some new faces out at
the new venues -- Lake Charles and Baton Rouge. I hear Dunaway is
thinking about doing the Lake Charles AR with Houston Jones and Rusty
Bex. Now, we're talking!

LaMBRA Posts Rankings to Date for Competitive Cyclists
From Randall Legeai,
http://www.gnofn.org/~nobc/rjlhome.htm
New Orleans
========================================================
This is preliminary information and should not be considered final
for any of the non-categorized classes.
NOTE: Standings for Cat. 5, Masters, Juniors and Women have not yet
been adjusted to remove points awarded to riders who do not hold
annual USCF licenses. As soon as I receive the necessary information
to allow me to confirm USCF membership status, those rankings will be
revised. (I cannot know which riders may have purchased annual
licenses at the events unitl I receive that information from the
promoters.) Team totals will be updated and the new rankings will be
uploaded to the LAMBRA website as soon as the license information is
received later this week.
Please remember that filling out your entry and release forms legibly
makes it much faster and easier for the promoters to put together the
results listings that are used to compile the LCCS rankings.
I plan to make sure that all LCCS race results this year are also
uploaded to the USCF Results and Rankings database.
