The (Feb 4, 2012) Rocky Raccoon 100-miler and 50-miler is filling up.  Joe Prusaitis (the RD) emailed me this morning and said that the park caps the run at 750, and he's at a total of 700 entries, right now.  (He’s partial to us Trail Nerds and Mud Babes).
If you’ve ever thought of doing a 100-miler or 50M, this is the one to start with.  This race has wonderful aid station support, a runnable and forgiving course, and a terrific Race Director and staff.   I’ve had six 100-mile (un-paced) finishes there, with four of those being under 24 hours.  Hell, if I can do it, you can!
Happy trails,
Ben

Hello Trail Nerds/Mud Babes and  KUS-ers.

Please cheer us on at Rocky Racoon 100 via the live link here. If you're friends with us on FB and would post on our pages, too that would be awesome so our friends who aren't runners, think we are crazy, but enjoy following can have fun on the wild ride. Looks like it may be a water slide this year. 30% chance of rain, but appears to be a lingering system from Thursday through Sunday. But race director, Joe Prusatis says to shut up and run (well maybe not those exact words...)

Wael Sammur                 760  ( First 50 miler and gonna crush it.)
Luke Hoskam                  811  (" I hope Jarod doesn't wear the same sandals as I do.)

note:  I did the best I could here-- and then realized I'd forgotten Matty (le sigh) . So please add to the cheer list as needed. Also, I'd heard Fast Andy (Henshaw) was going to run the 50-- but didn't see him on the list. Maybe missed it?

Sophia

I also wanted to add Sherrie Klover who kicked butt and placed 4th woman overall and ran her first 100 in Sub-24!
Darin kicked butt in the 50 and then paced Sherrie for the last 40!

You ladies and Guys are unbelievable inspiring and rock!! I'm lucky to know such bad-ass runners!

Hey Babes,
Even if you did Run toto Run, or Rocky- get the kinks worked out in a nice easy Monday recovery run. No we do not run at the speed of light or sound.

We do have fun though and all paces are welcome and accommodated.

6pm
Marina lot SMP.
Bring headlamp!

Unfortunately, I can't be there as I am helping my mom after my grandfather's funeral. I'll put in a few miles up here in chilly Decorah, Iowa though.

I hear you'll have some puffy snow to run in, so take advantage of it!

My best,
Sophia

Hey Mudbabes and random men we'll send the other direction around the park!

Run tonight will be a blast
6pm Shawnee Mission Park.
Marina lot- but we'll run the horse trail/dog trail if it's closed.

We strive to leave on time.
Really excited to see everyone post Psycho Wyco and Rocky Racoon.

Lots of paces. Lots of friendship. Several distance options.

Mud Hugs,
Sophia

Looking forward to the run tonight.  I will be slow, rolled my ankle at the Romp on Saturday and still a little swollen. Gonna get a brace this afternoon.  Free socks, yay.  :)

Hi Mudbabes,
The mountain bike trails are sloppy and closed-- but there is another trail that is across the dam (down hill from Marina, go left, up little hill and first shelter on the left. )

Run starts at 6pm. I'll get there a little early to rally!

Here's a weather report: It may feel a bit chilly when the sun goes down-- who knows... Bring arm sleeves.

Mud Hugs,
Sophia
