Yeah, the loop we ride behind the base would be a good course.

I asked to hang up a flyer today at the Gym @ Spang and was approached by the fitness-race- organizing guy, Stocky (sp?). He was asking about the trails we ride because he wants to put together a MTB race in the future. This could be good... Any ideas?

Hey, I had to get the Cannondale fixed so I went to the C-dale dealer
in Daun. He ordered the spring for fat little fatties but the wrong one
showed up. He actually took one out of a NEW bike so I could go ride on
Sunday.
The shop is owned by 2 brothers, Odum and Rainer (sp?) both of whom are
very kind and cool. They also speak English very well and have lots of
shiny new bikes your wife won't let you have to look at. He bled the
air from my Lefty and made sure everything was ok. Makes me glad I
ride.
Sorry I didnt make it this weekend guys. I was with friends late sat
night and trying to drive home from Trier, I actually had to pull off
the autobahn into a rest stop and fell asleep for a couple hours, didnt
get home until after 3am sunday morning...long story short, I was
sleeping. Im all about a ride this next weekend, especially after all
this rain were gettin! Keep the wheel side down!
It looks like we'll be able to ride this weekend. I won't hope for nice
weather (got a raincoat instead) but if it stays like this, we're set.
Who's down for the Sunday ride? Hope all of you can make it. I'll have
a real battery in my camera this time.
With all that's going on this weekend, perhaps we
should just postpone until next week. I'd like to
ride as well, but will not be able to get the time. I
cannot fit it in at all, unless we go night riding
really late. Night riding could be fun, perhaps we'll
have to discuss this idea further as it warms up.
I've read about the extreme clowns doing the night
riding deal and they say it's a blast.
How about Sat, 2 Dec at 1000?

This really sucks but I found out at 8pm tonight that I have to be on Sat at 8am. I don't know what time I'll get off. I'd like to go afternoon but I don't know if I'll be out by then or not. I don't know what time I'll get off.
I'd like to go afternoon but I don't know if I'll be out by then or
not. Post what time you want to head out and I'll try to meet you at

Since JW, PW and HR won't be available for our Sunday ride, how about
we postpone until the following Sunday – 3 Dec? Or, we can move our
weekend ritual to Saturdays beginning 2 Dec. Thoughts??? --be safe
in your travels PW.
Post replies to HR's yahoo group.
Nice clip JW – looks real similar to MG's antics last weekend.
MELVIN
I have to work this weekend for sure but if I have off I'd like to
ride on Saturday. Is anyone making plans to hit the trails? I'll be
riding Thursday if I have off also. Probably take the wife to Kyllburg.
I won't be able to make it this Sunday for sure. I have to work. I
love this job.

I know John and Trish are out of pocket on Sunday; but will everyone
else be up for a ride? I'm hoping to get a couple of Germans mixed
into our group this weekend.
I'll be there; rain, snow, sleet or shine...
Peace
All 8 pics!! Goody gum drops. Sorry about the camera dying. The
pictures are under "Photos". I'll put the group photo from the home
page in this album when I get home.
So yeah, I had a blast...Everything was great except for when Hector
took me out..Had I been in front we BOTH would have made it...LOL.
J/K. We need to do this more often...even my wife loved it! She
couldnt stop saying how fun it was. This weather has made for some fun
friggin rides...!
That was fun, no? I just put the group pic up for now because I have
dial up. I'll post the rest on Monday from the "other" computer. Hope
to see another great turn out next week.
Oops. Sorry about that, I meant Sunday. I sent MJ an email from work
about asking Mark to show us around again, so as soon as we find out
what is going on there we'll figure out where we'll be. If we don't go
back to those trails, I know about 30k of riding near the Kyll not too
far from where you guys were. Most of it is non-technical fire road but
there are some fast down hill parts and the riding right along the
river is great recovery. I'll keep this updated.

So the final thought it Sunday 1000 Main gate? When I talked to you
(Hector) at the post office you said "see you sat" just before you
left and it threw me for a loop...this will also be a fun ride, with
wifes and family (no 6 year olds..lol) to enjoy so we'll basically be
doing sprints. Sprint up/down hill and wait for people to catch up,
alot like the korea rides which were a blast. This is also a good
method because you dont tear up all the trails in 10 minutes....See ya
then!
We're going to put together another Sunday ride. We'll meet in the
visitor's parking lot at 1000 again. I'll post updates here on the home
page. take care.
Let's call it a go on Sunday – led by our very own MSgt "Marky" Galeno
(who's competed – successfully - in the USMIL Europe MTB circuit last
season and season before). Perhaps he can offer us some pointers…
1000 – Visitor's parking lot at the front gate.
Snow, rain or shine right?
I can make room for a bike as well, so we need to just figure out who
will need rides so we can possibly carpool.
HR, can you post this to your Yahoo site?
Peace – see all of you Sunday…
MJ
Hector,
Sunday 12th sounds better to me....I'm leaving Italy on the 11th!

There are really alot of trails near the base at Spang. I'm going to
try to get a group ride this weekend, possibly Sunday. All of the
trails are marked so it's really hard to get lost, but anyone who knows
the area well is especially welcome.
I'll be hitting the trails near the base this Sunday to check them out.
Hopefully we can get some riders together and hit them as a group some
time. I'll swing by the parking lot in front of the main gate at about
10 am if anyone wants to ride along.
There is a 45k Rodalben ride this Sunday with some of the guys from the
Ramstein area. I won't be able to make it, but if anyone wants some POC
info I can hook you up. The riders are pretty fast guys.
We should also plan a ride sometime soon.
STEPHEN, Do you live on base? We meet up and ride some of the trails
right outside or we can ride the "Green Monster" in Nurburg. I've never
been on it but I hear it's great.
There is also a group that leaves from Gruss' shop on Saturday around
2. I hear it's a relaxed group and there are about 5 of them.
How does 35k of fire road sound? There are some really nice long down
hills and some nice long climbs. The ride would start at Erdorf and go
to Malberg>Kyllburg and back. Most of it is along the Kyll River. If
not maybe we could try the Nurburgring ride. It's about 35-40k but it's
about 70k from Bitburg. I hear it's nice but I haven't tried it yet. I
talked to McCrory and it looks like he'll be busy this weekend.
