Good evening,
I know there's not a lot of traffic on this list, everyone's too busy
running to talk about it apparently, but I'm entered in the Run2Read
half-marathon tomorrow and don't currently have a way to get there.
Is anyone going that can take a rider? I'm happy to pay for gas.
I'm in Suncrest, we'd need to leave here by 11am.
Call me at 276-0213 (cell)
Thanks.
Nick Hein

You also could try the yahoo group WVHHH (West Virginia Hash House
Harriers) group. It mostly has morgantown and fairmont runners among
its active members. I find hashing works a lot like doing a fartlek
run :) And while hashing may not be your thing, we are trying to get a
group together to start meeting at 6pm on mondays (starting today) at
the former (now closed) Bilo parking lot on university ave. Hopefully
there will be a few morgantown area runners there who may be able to
help you out.

This isn't a very active group but you could try posting to morgantowntri which is also a yahoo group. Some of us run in the mornings but schedules vary dramatically. But you might get more of a response than on this list.

Looking for running partner that likes to run in the morning. I have been running a few months and am preparing for my first 5K. My latest PR is 10.45 a mile. My longest run has been 5.4 miles. I would like to go to the next level in running.

I've just returned from running the Last Chance Marathon Qualifier in Dublin, OH with a time of about 3:50. Due to a problem with the muscle between my ears I failed to qualify for Boston, even though I probably had the stamina. The course was a 1 mi lap, but you were on your own for keeping track of them. I thought I had 2 to go when I asked the timer and found I had already run 1 too many.
Anyway, back to the topic. In an unrelated brainsprain, I forgot to take my running shoes with me and didn't realize it until I was halfway there. The sponsor (Fleet Feet) miraculously brought a pair to the race just in time for me to tie them on and take off. The bad news is they are slightly small and I now have technicolor toenails, and 2 pairs of Size 12 Brooks Adrenalines to get rid of. The old pair have about 300 miles and upgraded inserts, the new pair were only used for this race (27.2 due to abovementioned headmuscle malfunction).
I'll still have my old Avias to train in, but I don't plan on any more major running races until after bike season is over.
Contact me privately if you're interested in the shoes at 276-0213.
Thanks to everyone who helped encourage me. I'm still pretty darn proud of being able to run a marathon as fast as I did at age 21!
I just registered for the Last Chance Marathon in Dublin, OH (Columbus) this Sunday but I'm still looking a travel partner(s) to help split travel and lodging expenses. Is anyone interested in joining me? The race starts at 8am so I'm driving up Sat afternoon/evening and returning right after the race Sunday afternoon. The event also features shorter distances (1/2 Mar, 10k, etc) if those are more your preference and openings are still available.
Please give me a call today if you want to come along.
I'm looking for a travel partner to the Dublin (near Columbus) OH marathon. It's a "Last chance to qualify for Boston" event on Feb 17. I'm not trying to be a bum, I'm a sustainable transportation advocate and I will miss the event rather than drive alone on those principles - but I really want to do it. So call if you're interested. It starts at 8am so it would have to involve an overnite stay.

Good morning,
I'm a regular transportation cyclist (50 yo male) who has lived in
Morgantown for several years. This year I set myself the goal of
running a marathon (the Dublin OH event Feb 17) and am interested in
this forum for the following purposes...
1) Training partner - I've got a remote coach who sent me a training
program to get me marathon-ready with a Boston-qualifying pace. I'd
like someone to run with on my Saturday long runs (9:05 pace ~2hrs)
and and a couple of easy weekday runs (9:11 pace).
2) Advising - I've been out of running and could use advice on
equipment, clothes, sources and training.
3) If anyone is interested in going to this Marathon I'll probably be
driving with one other person (he hasn't confirmed yet) there will
probably be room for sharing transportation and lodging.
btw At the Prickett's Fort 1/2 marathon I ran 1:43:30. If I can just
do that twice in a row I'll be going to Boston. So far it looks
hopeful. I'm kinda excited by this since I was 21 when I ran my last
marathon, and it looks like I'll be faster this time.
Contact via this forum or by phone at 276-0213.
Thanks.
