Help young girls in our area!   Message List

I received this from a friend and fellow runner. I thought I'd pass
it along....this is a worthwhile cause and your help would be
appreciated even if it's just to pass this message along to people
you know!!!

Thanks,
Sandy

I have been working with a group of women to start a running/healthy
lifestyles program for young girls in Morgantown. The after-school
program, called Girls on the Run ( www.girlsontherun.com), uses an
interactive curriculum and running to encourage pre-teen girls to
develop healthy lifestyles. Currently, there are over 100 councils
across the US and in Canada. After completing a competitive
application process, we are very excited to bring Girls on the Run to
Morgantown – especially because it will be among the first in the
state of West Virginia!

The program, which is partnered with Mon General Hospital, will begin
at Brookhaven Elementary School in the spring. Right now we are busy
finding funds to support the program. The Waterfront Place Hotel is
graciously allowing us to raise funds during Working Women's
Wednesday on Sept. 13. Two dollars from each promotional drink sold
will go to our Girls on the Run council. So I am asking you to
gather your friends and co-workers, and come to WWW on Sept. 13 from
4:00 to 7:00 p.m. We will also be raffling off a Waterfront Spa
package and some type of "night on the town" package that will
include dinner at the Regatta and tickets to a Creative Arts Center
show. And if you've never been to WWW, it's always a good time, with
FREE food, fun games, cool prizes, and our very own Meghan Durst!

Thanks for your help! Hope you can make it on the 13th. And please
feel free to pass this message along to others. Also, even though it
is "Working Women's Wednesday," men are more than welcome to attend
(and enjoy the complimentary buffet)!

Thanks again!

P.S. We're also looking for volunteers to help with the program this
spring. If you're interested, please let me know. And if you can't
make it Wednesday but would still like to donate, please contact me.
