I owned both a 1985 Miyata 610 and a 1896 Miyata 1000. If I remember correctly, there was very little difference in the two, except for the hi-tensile steel fork on the 610, and slightly better components on the 1000. There may have been a few other small differences, but I don't really remember. They are both really nice bikes.

Hello Group, I just lucked into a tall frame Miyata 610. As a fellow new to this forum, could anyone tell me the essential handling differences
between the 610 and the 1000? (I suspect my 610 is an earlier model, for it has the hi-tensile steel front fork, and cro-mo main frame). Any other basic information, including value, would be appreciated. Thanks,
Daniel Dahlquist Galena, Illinois
