Hi Ian.
I know the 3-notch lockrings you are talking about. They were really
common - I've seen them on a lot of different models. The tool you
specified should work to remove it. At the shop where I work we have
one similar to that, except that instead of the 3-tooth side it has
another single tooth, with a different diameter circle. One side is
good for headset lockrings and the other for BB lockrings. It is a
Park Tool too - I don't know whether they still make it though. Hope
