Trading Places

Two big bats found two new homes in this week's biggest trades. The Red Sox needed a slugger to counter the New York Yankees, and got their man in Cliff Floyd from the Montreal Expos in exchange for two minor league pitchers and a player to be named later. Meanwhile, St. Louis landed arguably the best third baseman in the NL when it traded for Philadelphia's Scott Rolen. The Cardinals dealt pitchers Bud Smith, Mike Timlin and third baseman Placido Polanco.
