Local Artist to Sculpt Statues of Phillies Greats



 



On June 5, 2002, the Phillies announced during a large media gathering at Veterans Stadium that they have commissioned nationally-acclaimed sculptor Zenos Frudakis to create four 10-foot tall bronze sculptures of Phillies legends Mike Schmidt, Steve Carlton, Robin Roberts, and Richie Ashburn for the New Ballpark. Frudakis will sculpt the players in various playing positions, paying homage to their significant contribution to the Phillies' rich baseball history.
