Tentative 2003 schedule released

Games against the traditional National League rivals, a major change in interleague opponents, more Businessperson's Specials, two fireworks shows and a rare twi-night doubleheader highlight the Phillies home schedule for 2003, the final baseball season in Veterans Stadium history.

The historic final home opener will take place on Friday afternoon, April 4, when the Pittsburgh Pirates begin a three-game weekend series.

New Clearwater Ballpark

The Phillies and the City of Clearwater yesterday broke ground for construction on a new Clearwater Community Sports Complex and Phillies Spring Training Facility.

The 14-month construction schedule calls for a state-of-the-art ballpark and community sports facility with a classic Floridian architectural style.
