Hi Morgana,
There most certainly are still Nesta fans around! (even though Nesta hasn't played a single minute in any official game this season).
You may or may not know, Junko has not been able to continue her work on these groups due to a health problem. I did try to continue posting regularly for a little while, but unfortunately participation by the members dropped off significantly soon afterwards.

The holidays have been great except that everyone around here has
nasty colds...wouldn't be xmas without colds around here lol. How
about yours? Eat too much? Every year I say I'm not going to gorge
on all the junk food...but I never can stick to that.
Yeah...it's a shame about the Nesta site. I really miss the way it used
to be. I've been reading that Nesta may have to go ahead and have
back surgery. I'm so afraid that he is just going to hang up his boots
if he does. Milan have been so hard to watch the last couple years.
I miss that beautiful, fluid game they used to play. Now it seems that
just gut the games out. Be interesting to see what the addition of Becks
plays out though.
Are you still working for the slave driver boss? lol

Good to hear from you. I'm sorry these clubs are only being used for spammers now; it used to be such fun around here. Milan is still the only team of my heart even though they often break it ;)

Hi,
Did anyone watch the game? I couldn't see it because they aired Madrid

From what I hear Gila should have gotten a penalty?
Thanks,

you are right milan has to improve if they want continue becasue when they play against a good team the lick wonīt be enough but it hlep.. but milan is always in the final rouds.
the real also has to improve.. of course i hope bayers lose..... well i fact it is going a difficult match for real... real always have problems with bayern and real is not in a very good situation,, they have to improve if they want to win.
well of course i will support liverpool.. you can imagine why?
i think that this cl i am going to suffer with real nad milan... well i n fact if none of them can win th cl.. i donīt mind which team win except barcelona

Well, Milan's good luck with the draw continues (they got a pretty easy group in the group phase). But luck can only take you so far. Without an improvement in form, it wouldn't matter who they draw.
Liverpool drew the short lot and got Barca. Too bad. I've always thought that for Milan to come completely out of the shadow of Istanbul, they will need to do one of two things: (1) beat Liverpool comprehensively in the CL, without letting 'Pool back into the game. (2) Win the CL again.
The way it looks, (1) is less likely to happen than (2) this year. But if I must
choose, I prefer (2) anyway! ;-P
I am sure Roma can't be happy drawing Lyon (who can?), but Roma vs Lyon should make for 2 interesting games.
Things could be worse for Bayern, and it isn't like they haven't beaten teams better than they are on paper, or Real Madrid, or a Capello team before. They have 2 months to develop the best Ballack- less formation and to re-discover their best form. (Talking about drawing the short lot, Werder Bremen, after being narrowly eliminated from the CL Group of Death, drew Ajax in the UEFA Cup! I just don't know what their fans have done in their previous lives to deserve this. ;-) )
Best of luck to Bayern! (Sorry Beyali! ;-) )

The draw for the knock out phase is on this coming Friday.
Since things are pretty quiet around here, I may as well start a "preview".
The draw will pit teams that advanced from the group phase in first place against those that advanced in 2nd place, and a team cannot face another team that advanced from the same group.
First place teams (from group A to H): Chelsea; Bayern; Liverpool; Valencia; Lyon; ManU; Arsenal; Milan.
Second place teams: Barca; Inter; PSV; Roma; Real Madrid; Celtic; Porto; Lille.
Milan advanced as group
winners on 10 points. With the same 10 points, Werder Bremen are relegated to the UEFA Cup competition. I am damned sure Bremen would have advanced from Hamburg's group, and the sorry Hamburg would be dead whether drawn in the Group of Death or not. That says all about the luck of the draw. (O/T: German teams need all the positive results they can get, as Germany faces the real possibility of losing another CL spot. Of course, Bremen winning the UEFA Cup would help Germany's cause. ;-) )
Various forums are abuzzed with hopes, wishes and predictions for the draw. Barca is by far the team every 1st place team want to avoid. Lille, Portal and Celtic are what the fans are praying to get. (Milan, of course, can't get Lille again.) IMHO, while PSV continue to be weakened year after year, they are still a pretty tough team to beat. A year ago, I'd have welcome Real Madrid. But with Cappelo there, and the end of the
Galactico system, I am not sure how much I want them now. (I know, Cappelo's expertise lies in the domestic league, but still, Real is now a Cappelo team, with all the charisteristics that entails....) As for Inter and Roma, it depends on which Inter and which Roma turns up on game day. Of course, in top form, neither Milan nor Bayern need to fear Inter or Roma, or even Real Madrid. But we all know what form Milan is in :- { ........ And Bayern have not been impressive so far either (but at least they managed to grind out results while playing like sh!t, in their good old-fashioned German way).
So the only good news is the knock out phase doesn't start until late next February (while the bad news is Nesta will likely miss the round of 16).

That has been confirmed on acmilan.com. Nesta will only return in
mid March.
Miilan's official site ported on Dec. 12 Dr. Meersseman's update on
the injured players:
http://www.acmilan.com/NewsDetail.aspx?idNews=36935
This is the part on Nesta:
"We are counting on everyone to give a hand, including the fans, in
this difficult moment. Nesta needed an operation, but we chose the
conservative path, but instead of improving the situation it
aggravated it. The pain increased and then he took a hit in a
practice game on November 19 and then even he preferred to have an
operation. Now he can rest a bit and then start rehabilitation. The
surgeon gave him a prognosis of three months, so he should be back in
the middle of March."

Nesta had surgery today (Monday).
Milan's official site is non-committal on how long it will take him
to return to the playing field. This is their 2-sentence
announcement (the Italian version seems just as brief):
"Alessandro Nesta had arthroscopic surgery on his left shoulder today
at La Madonnina Clinic in Milan . His recovery time will be evaluated

Football-Italia's slightly longer report/comment/speculation built
