Gordie:
Please pass the following message on to all MMTC members. Thanks.
All:
Yes, it's that time of year again. Any and all interested runners and friends
are invited to the annual Christmas Eve Day Run through the Pinecrest
neighborhood of East Lansing starting at 2 p.m. from the Miles residence at
1990 Winchester Drive in East Lansing. That would be Wednesday, December 24.
Note that 2 p.m. is an hour later than the time in previous years. We are
accommodating some unfortunate souls who are working for at least a portion of
the day before Christmas.
The intent is for this to be a social run, not a race or even a workout. We
celebrate the holidays and the winter solstice with a 5K stroll on the course
for what used to be Ellen’s Race at a “talkable” pace, and then return to
my house for goodies, including Linda’s famous hot cider and potato soup.
Nobody should even think about turning this into a race or even a legitimate
workout. At the very least, all the turns on this course are bound to slow you
down, especially if it’s icy!
We live in the northwest corner of East Lansing. From Saginaw Road, take
Harrison Road north almost to Lake Lansing. Turn left (west) on to Tarleton,
then left (south) on to Winchester Drive. Ours is the second house on the left.
Coming from Lake Lansing road, head south a short block on Harrison and turn
right on to Tarleton, then left on to Winchester. If none of this makes any
sense, M
apquest will show you exactly where we live. If you come by sleigh, there is no
extra charge to park on the roof.
All participants will be required to wave and pretend to say nice things to
neighbors who seem perplexed when it appears that a horde of crazed runners is
trying to take over their neighborhood.
This is an open invite, so please pass my message on to anyone whom I may have
missed in my list of recipients.
No need to RSVP. We take all comers. Questions or directions, call 332-2681.
Some of you may have gotten several copies of this. That’s because I use
several lists which have some overlap. Sorry about that.
Hope to see you on December 24.
Dick Miles
