Interesting updates.? The Flanagan girl who finished 3rd in the Olympics 10K has
an EL connection.? Her dad is Steve Flanagan who used to live and run around
here.? I believe the mother ran too.? Same family.

last Tuesday:? A new woman ran with us, Amada Renkas, who is a good runner and
also a writer for Lansing State Journal.? She made some positive comments about
the track club in her Wed. column.? read on

this Tuesday:? Evergreen Cemetery.? 2 person relay.? Each runs 4 x 3/4mi.? The A
runner will run the course clockwise each time having the long downgrade and
steep up hill.? The B runner will always run counterclockwise and have the steep
downhill and the long upgrade.? Meet at the east end of the regular loop by the
flag pole.? Per usual start at 6:15 and per usual club rain delay rules.? There
is a portajohn to the right just inside the gate by the caretaker's garage.?

most important:? park on south and southwest corner.? DO not park on the grass,
even with one wheel.? All water bottles and equip place on side of road, not on
any grave sites.

the following week, Aug 26.? Trail Run Intervals? 2 person relay? each will run
6 x 1/2 mile on trails.? Get partners there.? Riverbend Park? sw of Holt on
Kingman and Nichols road.? Portajohnr available.? check area maps in front of
telephone book for location.? Nichols is 2 miles south of Holt Road.? Get there
from corner of Grovenberg at Holt Rd, go south to deadend.? Turn left (west) 1
mile to near dead end.? Park entrance on right (north) side of Nichols
Rd..?There will probably be no announcement next week.?
