I may not have told you but I’m running Dublin with the Team in Training
Program. I’m running the marathon in memory of a colleague’s wife who lost her
battle with lymphoma and a family friend (35 years old) who is fighting an acute
form of leukemia. I have raised over $6500 to help find a cure and hope in some
small way it makes a difference. My goal in this race is to enjoy the day. If
I’m feeling good, I’ll start pushing around the 2 hour mark. I won’t be setting
any records, but hope to have a nice comfortable race.
>>>>>Doug's May 7th eMail:
I am training to run the Dublin Marathon on October 29, 2007, as a member of The
Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training. Team In Training raises funds
to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more
lives. I'm completing this event in honor of Steve (Erika) Rothwell of DeWitt
who is battling leukemia. Steve’s spouse, Erika, is an MEA member who teaches
in Grand Ledge Public Schools. Steve and Erika have two young children.
I am also running this marathon in memory of Barbara (Jim) White who
courageously fought lymphoma for several years. Some of you may have worked with
Jim White during his representation of MEA members over the past 30+ years.
These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross
the ultimate finish line - a cure!
Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help
advance the Society's mission. If you have already made a donation, thank you
very much.
