Just a few notes pertaining this Saturdays run -
As usual, things are a little different out here. Those of you who have
run here before will find little
different, but I pass a few tips to the newcommers. I like to think of
running here as an Xtreme event.
Road report - this has been a different year, and some of the snow that
Lansing and south has gotten hasn't
reached up here. In addition, the continued stretch of cold weather has
left the roads a little difficult.
Therefore some of the roads are covered with small, loose stones, caused
by vehicle travel, and lack
of moisture. As a result, do not bring flats or light shoes - the
heavier trainers with substantial forefoot
padding would be prefered. Depending on wind direction, there will be
up to 2 miles of paved road,
the rest-to-all will be gravel.
Clothing - out here there is little cover - few houses, some woods, -
so the wind can build up to speed that
you wouldn't expect when running in town. So, plan on a windbreaker,
and layers of clothes. Make your
final decisions when you are here, when you see what we have. I plan
the run to go into the wind, at the
begining, then with the wind at your backs on the return.
The weather at this time looks to be better than last (no snow storm)
but not as warm as other years.

Hope to see many of you - we've always had a good time in the past.
Feel free to bring non-MMTC
runner freinds as this would be a great time to introduce them. I'll
be serving pancakes and waffles
after the run - additional fruit or breakfast goodies are welcome.
Happy running.
