I solved the problem by making up a harness to fit across the transom then two lines to the bow then pulled from the winch which then pushed on the stern and i managed to load the boat on my own in a field far from water. the trailer moved towards the boat untill it lost its friction grip on the grass.

Do any of the Gems have a an eye or ubolt on the stem for the Trailer
winch cable? If so, where is it and what backs it up behind the stem?
I say this having just had a major (wet!) job to recover mine for the
first time. It was impossible to winch the boat on the trailer, which
is a break back trailer, I had to immerse the trailer and float it on.
One problem seems to be that the winch (on a post) does not give a
straight pull because it is below the only attachment point on the
boat, the foredeck cleat. This gets worse as the boat is further on
the trailer
Salt water, brakes and wheel bearings do not mix.
Can anyone tell me the standard kicker arrangement? Again, what is
fitted seems wrong.
