Hi Trevor,
Nice to read some info from Australia after years of silence.
I know that yo are using a slightly different rig as the standard one, as defined in the documents of the Micro Class (inherited from Micro Class France files). See on http://www.microclass.org/rules/document5.html.
In addition to the Gem's of Manningtree, there are some active in continental Europe and they were found compliant with the European standard.
Known boats are FRA-1137 NANA, of Roger Baigue, near Marseille, FRA-4918 FRERO, of Philippe Vignola, in Paris, and GER-67 GEM-ini, of Sven Pohlmann, near Köln.
Roger Baigue is still performing very well, others are only active in their region.
Your national GEM rules are allowing a larger spinnaker (but check also with our new calculation formula), we are (slowly) preparing an evolution to something slightly larger than our present 19.6 sq.m (just less than 211 sq.ft), and your spinnakers could become legal for us.
Your mainsail is reported 1 sq.m smaller than ours and headsail 1 sq.m. larger.
We have no records of mast length (must just be less than 8.20), mast sections, mast profile metric weight, daggerboard weight.
Phil

Hello DavidI sail a Gem in Australia, we have 13 at our club and enjoy close ales not as complicated as the Micro so we are on the hunt for a drawing of a Gem with mast and sail measurements, if any of your members may have this we would love to hear from themThanksTrevor HippisleyGemma 146----- Original Message -----From: DavidSent: Wednesday, February 06, 2008 8:22 PMSubject: [MicroClass] MICRO EVENT ON THE RIVER STOUR AT MANNINGTREEFollowing up on my last post about an open Micro event at Manningtree
this summer, we have now sorted out our sailing programme. As we have
done for the last few years we are going to hold our "Micro
Championships" in September, on the 20st and 21st, based on our local
water, rather than try and have an alternative event during the summer
at another location.
There is a boat yard nearby where I'm sure lifting in and out for
visitors can be arranged, and I'll find out what the charge would be.
Visiting boats would be welcome for the weekend, so anyone interested
please contact me.
Regards,
Dave
