6/1/06 -Thurs - Finally!
Today was the best and most consistent day yet. By 2pm we were on 95 litre boards with 6.0 sails. the waves on the reef were about three to four feet and we were finally getting what we had come here for. Brent tried three back loops, Chris as well. John was even spotted riding a few waves with the knee still mending from the ACl surgery in March. Chuck was finally comfortable, having found some gear he likes. The hands finally blistered today, which will make things more painful - but that is part of the game. Salt water does not help. Chris may be a convert to Starboard has he was on a 96 litre Kombat board all day. John has finally been converted to JP, and will likely come home with a new one in the box for $1000. Nice 600 discount! Jens, the owner (Vela Cabarete) and distributor for JP/ Neil Pryde and Starboard equipment south of Miami has plenty of gear. He rigged 6 new sails yesterday. Chuck couldn't find a 6.1 meter Expression sail, so Jens rigged an all new sail, mast, booms kit for him! That is service! After sailing most of the group went back to the hotels, but we hung around and had a beer. Jens came out and ordered two rounds (on him) and we shot the breese until dark with him on the beach patio. Very Cool! We are coming back. You dont find better service for a windsurfing vacation! Dinner was at Pomodadoro, for Italian. Right on the beach. Our four had planned to have dinner with the two florida girls, and when we got there, half the group was there. The french couple, and the swiss girls. It was like another group dinner, as we all sat together and had excellent Italian food. We finished dinner about 10 pm, and for the first night, we went back to the room to sleep. All the activity is catching up to us!
Forcast for tomorrow is excellent- 15-25. Yes!
Ciao. Brent
