Happy end-of-the-long-f---ing-winter to everyone!
I got back from Florida Tuesday after attending my second Calema
competition event in the last 3 years and this time I posted some pictures.
Both events that I've attended lacked wind. The first one was in November 03.
This one was lacking wind REAL bad on Saturday and Sunday. Friday was
kind of good. I didn't race but had a good sailing day on Friday in15-20kts.
Saturday was 10-15, Sunday was 0-10. The 10 only happened for 45 minutes
in the morning. They managed to get the kid's heats in. A bunch of formulas
slogged out to the start line and then slogged back in -- real slow!
It was a FormulaFest! Tons of beautiful Starboard Wood Formulas.
Freestylers were using little superwide Starboard wood widestyles. Lots of
other light wind makes and models were used but the Starboards ruled. Most
were using 9.5-11.5 sails and pumping their ass off to get up on plane.
It was hard to even find a place to park let alone sail on the Banana River in-
between heats. We found a place to watch and sail from far down and away
from the main contest area. A long walk from the Van!
Look for the"windfest" album under photos on the site.
Let our season begin real soon!
