Oh yeah, this sounds really cool. I know at least 30 sailors and kiters that would love this. It would also free up the 2 phone lines we call for up to the minute data.
Thanks

Hey guys, I developed an automated wind alert script which runs
every hour and uses raw wind data from various METAR sites
throughout North America. Sailors can subscribe to various
locations and specify a minimum wind alert speed. Then if the wind
reaches that speed, the sailor will receive an e-mail alert or a
mobile text message alert to their cell phone.
I basically set this up for the West Coast, but after some
discussions with sailors in Austin, Texas, I was able to add some
locations in their area which they found useful.
I can easily add wind alerts for the Michigan area if you guys think
you would use them. The locations available are below, and there
are more details at www.PacificWindsurf.com --> Wind Alerts. Do you
think any of these locations would be helpful for you if they were
wind alerts?
Are you guys interested in something like this? It's just a hobby
web site for me, but the script is pretty reliable, and it's
free. :)
