The Michigan Road Racing calendar has been updated as follows:
- removed Rockford Criterium from the Michigan Challenge Series (erronously
identified as a Michigan Challenge event).
- added Rose City Criterium to the Michigan Challenge Series

All -
OK, I know that we have been a little slow these last couple of weeks with
getting the current standings posted. But the the State Time Trial (at no fault
of the promoter) was a little difficult to get everyone classified correctly in
their respective Michigan Challenge category.
Hopefully by this weekend the current standings will be posted at the MBRA
website. The updated standings will include Midland results. The hold up right
now is with the Junior Men category and some of the juniors being placed into
incorrect age categories. I am not going to post partial standings since I
don't want to receive a bunch of emails indicating that "such and such"
classification is not up to date when I already know that "such and such"
standings are not up to date.
Finally, we are really trying to get the standings posted as quickly as
possible. So please don't email me the day after an event asking if the
standings are updated and when they will be posted. In most cases I have not
received the results. As a rule of thumb, the speed or quickness of posting the
standings is directly related to when I receive the results from the promoter.
Once I receive the results from the promoter it usually takes about 3 days to
get everything updated, checked, reviewed and posted to the website.
Thanks for you support,
Steve Kocik

Let's be honest here Kocik. 99% of the errors are "Alman errors" - not
getting the names right, wrong placings etc. But I echo your comments:
thanks to all the riders who are being patient as we get the new system up
and running, and for finding and communicating the errors to us.

Subject: [velodrome] Track State Championships
Hello everyone,
State Championships Info:
Sat - June 14th
morning session
10am warm-up
11am Kilo, pursuits, 500m
afternoon session
2pm warm-up
3pm flying lap, sprints, scratch races
Sun - June 15th
2pm warm-up
3pm Point races, miss & out
Rain is not a possibility.
Mr. Michael R. Rabe was in charge of leading the charge for the State
Championships. As most of you know kilos and pursuits are not my favorite
events. So my heart is not really into them - that is why Michael was in
charge.
So I need your help. Our success as a track is dependent on everyone
riding and volunteering.
If you have watches, bring them - because the infield has been graded for
the tunnel and is getting regraded for the ashpalt our timing equipment may
not be installed.
Looking forward to some fun racing this weekend.
Thanks,
Dale

Subject: Annual Licenses
Just a quick heads up. Those of us who are selling annual licenses at our
events might advise riders that it is taking about 6 weeks for USACycling to
process those applications. They are trying to reduce the backlog, but for the
moment, let the riders know that they should be prepared to hang on to their
yellow copies of their application for at least that long.
(Sorry for any duplication you might get - I sent this to two address groups.)

All,
The MBRA web site is up and running. Check out www.mbra.org. While it might
not be coolest, slickest website it gets the job done and improvements will be
coming in time.
One area of interest is the Michigan Challenge pages. For those that don't
know, the rules have change (for the better) and the results for the first two
events (Willow Park TT and Kensington) are now online. Just select the MI
Challenge link.

Subject: LATE NEWS FROM THE KENSINGTON ROAD RACE
PARK LIMITS WARM UP AREA
Park officials informed us today that warm-ups on the course will not be
permitted. You may warm up in the parking area at Maple Beach, across the
street from the Orchard picnic area. After you finish you must return to
Orchard and stay off the course - the Maple Beach parking area will still
available if you want further warm down after the race.
SPECIAL NOTE TO WOMEN, JUNIORS, AND MEN CAT. 5/CITIZEN
Your start time Saturday is in the second wave of starts that begin at 8:30
am. The first waive of starts begins at 7:30 am. Please try to arrive before
the first races start. If you arrive after 7:30 you may be delayed on the
park road by Park Rangers while they permit the Men's' fields to pass. If
the fields are passing when you arrive, Park Rangers will not permit you to
continue on the course until it is clear, even if it means you miss your
start.
Although we would like you to arrive early, please note that we may allow
riders with earlier start times to cut ahead at registration. With Friday
night check in, we hope this won't be necessary, but please be patient if we
ask you to let other riders move ahead of you in line. (Of course, if YOU
check in Friday night it won't be an issue for you at all.)
SPECIAL NOTE TO JUNIORS
If you are under 18 your parent or guardian must sign your waiver (not your
coach or your teammate's parent). You must have a signed waiver even if you
registered online. If a parent is not attending the race, your waiver must
be signed in advance by your parent and you MUST call us to confirm
arrangements prior to the race.
WE'RE STILL LOOKING FOR COURSE MARSHALS! (Read this, really.)
We're still short a few course marshals. If your parent/spouse/friend can
pitch in we'd really appreciate it and you can race free. The Park Ranger
will meet with our course marshals at 7:00 am. If we don't have enough
marshals the race won't start. Does this sound like begging? It is. If you
can help write Griffin@... or call (734) 332-3786.
PREGISTERED RIDERS LISTED ONLINE
All pre-registered riders have been assigned bib numbers. You can confirm
your number and category on the website at www.outdoorathlete.com.
Weatherman says warm and dry on Saturday, have a great race!

Subject: Kensington Road Race Info
KENSINGTON ROAD RACE INFORMATION
Thanks for entering the Kensington Road Race. Final race info appears below,
including important information about signed waivers, team vehicles and
racing for free. Please review it carefully.
STEP ONE: CONFIRM YOUR RACE CATEGORY AT OUR WEBSITE
By 5:00 pm Wednesday our website will list all pre-registered riders by bib
numbers and category. Please confirm you're entered in the correct category,
and confirm your start time while you're at the website.
www.outdoorathlete.com.
STEP TWO: SIGNED WAIVERS (YES, YOU STILL NEED ONE)
Even though you registered online, you must still submit a signed standard
USCF waiver at check-in. We've attached one for your convenience. Please
print it, fill it out in advance, and bring it with you. If your email
provider or company stripped the attachment from this email, you can find
the wavier online at
http://www.usacycling.org/membership/forms/2003_rider_release.pdf.
Sorry, we hate the extra paperwork too, but that's the way it is. We'll have
extras available Saturday, so don't panic if you forget your waiver.
STEP THREE: RACE CHECK-IN/RACE DAY INFO
Friday Night Check In/Registration
You can pick up your bib number and chip on Friday evening at the Orchard
Picnic Area from 5:00-9:00 p.m. Bring your waiver and your USCF license. If
you're buying a one day license, bring your $5 too. Tell your teammates they
can register Friday night if they haven't already.
Picking up Your Teammate's Bib/Chip
We'll allow it, but you must bring their signed waiver (signed by them, not
you) and their signed USCF license. A photocopy of the license is OK; just
copy both sides (the signature is on the back). Sorry, we need an original
signed waiver, no copies.
DO NOT SIGN SOMEONE ELSE'S WAIVER FOR THEM. It is fraud, you will be
disqualified, reported to the USCF, and expose yourself to liability. We'll
spot check against our signature files. We will catch you. It's just not
worth it. Don't.
The course is open Friday evening. You may ride if you wish, but be advised
that Friday practice is not part of the race, the course is not marshaled,
and you assume all risks of any practice ride.
Race Day Check In/Registration
The park opens at 6:00 am. Please don't enter early. Registration opens at
6:30 a.m.
Parking: Like last year, the main entrance to the Orchard Picnic Area will
be closed to cars. Enter Orchard via the overflow parking entrance.
Pre-registered riders (the righteous ones, like you) will check in at a
separate table - look for the signs and the friendly volunteers. Help keep
them friendly by filling out your waiver in advance, having your license in
hand, and taking any frustrations out on Paul Alman or whoever is working
the "Solutions" desk. If you want to be nice to Paul, that's OK too. Ask him
to point you in a new direction and see what he says.
COURSE VEHICLES
Team support vehicles must be pre-approved and will be permitted only if we
have enough neutral support vehicles for the field. If you plan to bring a
support vehicle, or have a volunteer willing to provide neutral support,
please email Jeff@... to obtain clearance. No motorcycles are
permitted on the course in any race capacity.
We need lead vehicles too. Please contact us if you're interested.
COURSE MARSHALS
We need 20 to satisfy the park, and we're still looking. This is the hardest
part of putting on the Kensington Race, and we need your help. The park
ranger will not permit the race to start until the course is fully
marshaled.
Incentives: We're offering the race free program again this year. Provide an
adult course marshal, and you can race free. Got a teammate who isn't
racing? If they course marshal at Kensington we'll pay their entry into a
future Michigan Challenge race.
We'll take names on an "Only if it's an emergency basis." (no, it's not an
emergency yet, and we're working hard to avoid one, but some backup names
would help us sleep better) For more info on Course Marshall duties/times
visit the website.
To volunteer as a course marshal, write Volunteer Coordinator Griffin
Lindsay griffin@... or call her at (734) 332-3786.
QUESTIONS
Feel free to contact me at jeff@... or call (734) 332-3786.
