Fwd: Race Scheduling and MBRA Meeting   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #130 of 228 |

Everyone,
The "MBRA" kickoff meeting Paul Alman mentions below in the second paragraph is
going to be very important. This proposed organization will do no less then
control the future of bicycle racing in Michigan to the extent that the "MBRA"
will basically be the Michigan arm of USA Cycling. If you hold a USA Cycling
license and are interested in the future direction of bicycle racing in Michigan
I would strongly encourage you to find the time to attend this meeting.

there will be meeting in Room 208 of the IM Sports West Building
(http://www.msu.edu/dig/msumap/centertop.html for a map of campus) to discuss
the 2003 Michigan USCF racing schedule. This is the same room/building we have
used in the past. Please attend (or send a representative or a list of your
desired dates and events) so that we can come up with a schedule that is as
complete and accurate as possible and which reduces any scheduling conflicts to
a minimum. Most of you have already sent in your 2003 dates, some have already
been permitted, but there are still events on the preliminary schedule that are
tentative or that just represent a pick-up from last years schedule. By the way,
a big thank you to Steve Kocik for continuing to host and manage the schedule.

In addition, we will use this meeting to introduce and kick off the Michigan
Bicycle Racing Association which will be assuming many of the administrative
functions formally done by USCF and Mike Hanley. draft MBRA by-laws, the
Memorandum of Understanding with USAC, the proposed structure and Advisory Board
members will be discussed, and hopefully we can get this off to a good start.
The plan is that MBRA membership will be open to all USCF Officials, USCF Clubs
and all race promoters who have or will have promoted a race in the past or
current calendar year. For the first year no membership fees are anticipated and
we hope to use this year to determine in what ways we can better serve the needs
of our members and of Michigan bike racers. So bring your ideas, suggestions and
questions.
