You're a bit touchy, aren't you? I wasn't personal. Reread your comments.
You certainly were.
The Mets have won two World Series. 1969 was about pitching, Cleon Jones and
Tommie Agee. Game 3 was Tommie Agee!!
Ron Hunt is a quality guy but didn't bring us anything close to a World
Series. I liked him a lot but would you take Wally Pipp or Lou Gehrig.

The fact is I am original Mets fan from the start, and Hunt had a
quality which set him apart from everyday players. The other players
got off on his energy and guts. They played harder becuase Hunt would
take one for the team very often and play so hard.
The fact that Tommy Agee had a single great season a few years later
oin 1969 for the Mets after the Mets traded Hunt to get Davis then
traded David to get Ageee...well that's what happends in baseball. The
fact also is that Ken Boswelll who played 2nd base for the 1969 team
is an accidnet and his contribution to baseball was short lived
compared to Hunt.
I'd take Hunt 100 times over because he turn the oither players on and
his teammates wknew that Hunt got things started. Sort of a Wally
Backman but tougher the way I saw it.
