I think the signing of Fonzie is for mentor and grooming purposes.
He's not been much of a hitter since he got hurt the second time (with
San Fran). He is probably going to be a coach or laision within the
organization.
As far as pitching is concerned, I think the Mets should continue
grooming the young pitchers. Unless we can "borrow" a potential free
agent for the end of the season, we are not going to get a front line
starter.
The second will be good if Cliff Floyd can overcome his injuries and
hit, and Pedro gets healed, I think the Mets will go far in the post
season. If I'm not mistaken the '69 Amazins did with platooning and
moving pitchers in and out of the 4th spot in the rotation.
