Why is Mo Vaughn going to try to come back?   Message List

Re: Why is Mo Vaughn going to try to come back?

Actually Mo Vaughn has to at least attempt to come to spring training
in order for him to get paid! The insurance policy states he must
attend spring training otherwise his contract can be null and void.
He will not declare retirement until after next season. Just like
Albert Belle did this offseason. He won't play a single inning this
year so I wouldn't worry too much about that. In addition, the
insurance will cover 75% of his salary. Mets will have
Piazza/Phillips and Wilson at first and Catcher this season. Maybe
Tony clark will be in the mix but that is doubtful.

The main disturbing factor is who wants to play with the mets...
After losing out on Castillo, it makes you wonder who can the mets
get to fill voids and be younger, better and more economical. Mets
are looking into Aurilla, Sanders, Guillen, Cameron. And they will
closely monitor Vlad Guerrero but I don't foresee them making a major
signing until after the meetings Dec 12th-15th. Also the only move
that seems to be in the works is John Franco and he doesn't fit
either the Younger/more athletic build. Mets Need Vlad bad! They
need to rid Cedeno and trade for Milton but all that seems distant.

We shall see what happens. One thing is perfectly clear Mo Vaughn
will not be playing he will be on the 60 day dl. For the whole
season.
