The problem is not the closer, but getting to the closer. When you pull your
starter in the 6th or 7th holding a lead, but the relievers cough it up before
the 9th, a lights out closer doesn't help. Look at the Phillies. Lidge did not
blow one save and the bullpen usually held the leads till it was closing time.
K-rod will look great in a Mets uniform as long as we dump heilman, schoenwise (
schoenstupid) and the rest of the bums and get some real relievers. I wonder if
Mark prior could be transformed into a closer??
