Re: [Mets Fanz United] Can Obama change the Mets too?

perez did well today and has great stuff but me will want more years and money
then the mets will be willing to give him. stokes could be a number 5 starter
seeing as that is what he is (a starter, not middle relief) smith should stay
the rest of the pen needs to be figured out i like cc but he will cost way to
much k-rod might come over but he could resign with the angels they have a good
sized payrole to play with. i'll look for the mets to try to make a trade for a
pitcher not zito or lowery though maybe halladay from the jays if the mets give
up enough i doubt that highly they should try for brandon league from the jays.
as for the pen they could try to get someone from the tigers... signs are
pointing that they are going to cut fat from the payrole there could be some
good players had from them.

I think that Oliver Perez is not at fault for today. The blowpen is the problem
and if it's not fixed by April, 2009 is a lost year.

Change is definitely needed if the Mets are to contend any time in the
forseeable future. From my perspective, it was obvious they would miss
the playoffs when they failed to bring home the winning run from 3rd
with nobody out in the bottom of the 9th of a tird game. But the old
adage rings loud and clear, you need pitching in order to win. From the
current roster, only Johan, Pelfry and Maine deserve to be part of the
rotation going forward. As for the bullpen, well, maybe Stokes and
Smith deserve to be at spring training, as for the rest of them, clear
out your lockers and find other clubs. The Mets have to make a run at
getting K-rod or CC, and I would think it might behoove Omar to ask the
Giants about the availability of Zito or Lowry. Maybe Wade Miller is
healthy again somewhere. The 2008 collapse was due to the blowpen,
nothing else.

The one big need this offseason is for a light-out closer.  Paging K-Rod- a super-size boatload of benjamins may lure him to the Mets.   Kevin [Non-text...

I think the Mets issue is not the closer. (Even tho I wouldn't mind K-Rod) I think our issue is the middle relief and long relief. We need the middle guys to...

The problem is not the closer, but getting to the closer. When you pull your starter in the 6th or 7th holding a lead, but the relievers cough it up before the...
