i think john maine is good fit in the #2 spot for the mets behind santana. he
will get 30 starts this season and 25 of those will be of quality. he will
finish the season 18-7, while santana will win 24 games... the phillies will
finish in second place behind the mets this season or the teams will finished
tied. does anyone believe pelfrey will be the 5th starter this season or will he
share that role with el duque all season?

Unfortunate. Obviously, there is a trend here for a 15-win Pitcher. I suppose we
will see a
peaks and valley performance from him this season as we had last season. Still,
having a
Pitcher with 15 wins is not all that bad. I am wishing/hoping that John Maine
improves with
a show of 17-18 wins, and Pedro Martinez finishes with at least 12. I won't jinx
it by
predicting what Johan Santana will bring to the table. Awesome is the only word
I can think
of to describe him. If the batting in the 6-8 hole can get on base, Johan may
record RBI
totals that will baffle statisticians. More power to him.
The Phillies will test them, this I can say with confidence. Mets pitching will
see more of
Shane Victorino this season. Ryan Howard is upset about his new contract, and
Jimmy
Rollins isn't talking. Wise that, I suppose.
