I'm very excited for smith. he has a good fastball about 93, and that's not even
his best pitch which is a slider. he's 23 years old and only has 2and a half
months for professional ball under his belt. I'm guessing that management
wouldn't have taken the risk if he didn't show them something. look at his
spring numbers. and that was all against veteran batters maybe in a few years he
can take over the closers role...i know that's a stretch but I'm still excited
for what he brings to the table

their careers. In the words of Pedro just hold the fort until July when he can
probably come back, the Mets will be shopping for a frontline starter, not
bullpen help. When all the kids are ready in a couple of seasons, we could have
a starting five almost as good as 86.
