XOW Presents "Pain in Pontotoc" THIS Saturday Night

The XOW show in Pontotoc, MS, this Saturday night is shaping up to be
a really good show. XOW Ladies Champion Peggy Lee will defend her belt
against Bambi. Also 16 lucky fans will be chosen to be around the ring
during the match featuring "Bad Attitude" Tony Dabbs vs. "Southern
Thunder" Chris Kilgore. If either wrestler gets thrown out of the
ring, the fans chosen to be around the ring get to whip them with
leather straps. "The Future" Chris Styles & "The Perfectionist" Josh
Matthews will face Anton Leveigh & Brandon Bobwire inside a steel
cage. "Superstar" Bill Dundee will face the winner of a $5000.00
battle royal. Also appearing will be "Luscious" Kenny Valiant and
Pretty Mary Sunrise. It was Pretty Mary Sunrise who slapped the fire
out of XOW Promoter Tony "The Weasel" Watts at the TFW show this past
Friday night. Who knows what she will be up to at XOW! Just added to
the card is Giant Hillbilly vs. Uncle Felton. It all happens at
Pontotoc Agri-Center this Saturday night, 9-29-07. Bell time is 8:oo.
Don't miss this one! See you there!!

   Great show in Millington,TN

Just wrestled on the big Millington,TN show. It was great to see all
the guys in the back. It was also good to see some of the guys I
would call legends, such as Kamala, Ken Wayne, Doug Gilbert, Jerry
Lawler, Kid Kash, and of course the greatest legend of all, Sarge
O'Reily.(lol) It was a great show and as always, alot of laughs and a
fun time. Pappy is awesome and Uncle Felton is as always "The Man".
He will give you the shirt right off his back.(Just ask Sarge) If
you missed it, hey it was your loss cause it was a blast. See ya at
the matches!

Bobwire,Anton Leveigh,Pappy,Uncle Felton,The Giant Hillbilly,Cowboy

   Ackerman show was awesome!

Just thought I would fill you guys in on the great show we had in
Ackerman,MS. The show was electric with such workers as Sarge
O'Reily,Anton Leveigh,Brandon Bobwire,Tony Dabbs,Chris Styles,Southern
Thunder Chris Kilgore,Psycho,Pappy,Uncle Felton,The Candyman,Hollywood
Jimmy Blaylock,The Deadman,Neil"The Real Deal"Taylor and many others.
It was new ground for me as I turned my back on my hillbilly family
and aligned myself with The Hollywood Clique. With the promise of a
new tractor still ringing in my ears I jumped my former partner and
manager and left them in the ring screaming "Why?". Those fair weather
fans had the nerve to boo me afterwards.Oh well, go figure. The
dressing room was relaxed with alot of ribbing going on. Everything is
always great and professionally done on an All Pro Productions
show. Thanks to Kenny Valiant and The Candyman for putting this show
together so well. Till next time, see ya at the matches!

September 9, 2007 - Sunday

Clash in the Attala County Coliseum

The Kosciusko show had to be one of my finer moments as not only did I
get the chance to ridicule the so called fans in attendance, but I
defeated that retarded hillbilly Pappy and that ridiculous Uncle
Felton. Then to add insult to injury, I ripped open the back of
Felton's shirt and painted a yellow streak down his back. That
cowardly old man! The back room was relaxed as usual with alot of
ribbing. It was good to see Mr. Wrestling III and a special visitor
all the way from Belgium. Rob Raw. He seemed to like our style of
wrestling over here. The crowd was into every match and got so exited
during the Anton Leveigh,Brandon Bobwire v.s. Chris Styles, Tony Dabbs
match that a full on riot almost ensued with security having to bust
their butts to maintain order. I can only imagine what the Ackerman
show, about 20 miles up the road, will be like with word of such a
great card still being talked about. Look out Ackerman, here we come!

Fighting for recognition
Mixed martial arts hits the big-time
By Jacob Bennett
Wednesday, September 26, 2007

In the mid-1990s, before their sport became the fastest-growing in
America, Scott Henze and Aaron Riley would roll out a foam mat in
their Tell City backyards, slip on some fingerless gloves and bloody
each other's noses with a combination of judo, jujitsu, kickboxing
and Greco-Roman wrestling.

Since then, thanks to their connection to the Evansville mixed
martial arts (MMA) organization HOOKnSHOOT, they have wrestled in
rings and octagon cages all over the world, from Russia and Japan to
Costa Rica and Abu Dhabi. Henze's next fight is in an eight-man
tournament Saturday at the Coliseum in Evansville, an event that is
pivotal to the future of HOOKnSHOOT.

ERIN McCRACKEN / Courier & Press A few HOOKnSHOOT participants
practice their craft at the Big Bully Martial Arts Center on
Stockwell Road in Evansville. The local organization is working to
become one of the major players in what's described as the fastest-
growing spectator sport in the world.

The local organization is starting a partnership with a deep-pocketed
sponsor that will give it its first taste of cable television
exposure. It's that type of exposure that has helped the sport grow
from an outlaw brand of "human cockfighting" to a well-regulated pay-
per-view draw that brings in more annual cash than pro wrestling or
boxing. Fighters combine wrestling and martial arts skills in matches
that often end up as grounded grappling wars.

"It's a chess match," said Henze, who in July opened Big Bully
Martial Arts Center on Stockwell Road to train other fighters. "You
make them move where you want. You push them this way, you know
they're going to pull that way.

"It's a sport where you're completely dependent on yourself. It's
just you and another guy, mano y mano. As hard as you train, there's
always somebody training just as hard. You have to push it to the
limit. If you let up even for a second, they can knock you off."

Saturday's event is the first locally to be sponsored by Bodog Fight,
a spin-off of the bodoglife.com online gambling Web site. Some of the
matches Saturday and at the Evansville event in November will be
shown on the Bodog Fight show on the Ion cable network.

HOOKnSHOOT promoter and co-founder Jeff Osborne will also hold
tryouts for a locally-filmed reality show that will allow average
citizens to train to be fighters. "Over a decade of ups and downs,
mostly downs, it's just this year it's paid off," Osborne said.

Osborne has a three-year contract to be commissioner of Bodog Fight,
as well as an on-air commentator and consultant. In addition to
promoting shows locally, Osborne has been a consultant and
commentator for Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), by far the most
popular MMA organization.

Osborne, 37, grew up watching the Memphis-based regional wrestling
that brought Hulk Hogan and other pro wrestlers to the Evansville
Coliseum early in their careers. Osborne even grew up to wrestle
professionally for a handful of independent wrestling groups and also
promoted some events.

But he quit in the early 1990s because he got fed up with what he
calls "garbage wrestling," when fighters would bring barbed wire and
glass into the ring. He turned his attention to a new, raw sport that
tried to determine which style of fighting was best by pitting, for
example, kickboxing experts against kung-fu masters in a chain-link
octagon cage. "I saw the potential in it," said Osborne, who uses a
hexagon ring instead of a cage. "I didn't know it would be 10 years
later. I knew it would overtake pro wrestling not necessarily as a
sport but as entertainment."

In the beginning, only biting, fish-hooking, throat strikes and eye
gouging were off-limits. There were no time limits or weight classes.
Though most fights ended in submission holds, many were violent and
bloody. The very first match lasted just 30 seconds and ended when
sumo wrestler Teila Tuli got his tooth kicked out by Gerard Gordeau.

Osborne began training with Scott Sullivan, a kickboxer from
Evansville who now runs an MMA school in Texas. Sullivan was invited
to fight in the first UFC in 1993, but didn't think his skills would
work well against Brazilian jujitsu grappler Royce Gracie.

Sullivan was replaced by Ken Shamrock, an early MMA star who later
wrestled in the World Wrestling Federation. Shamrock was defeated in
57 seconds by the much smaller Gracie.

"I was smart enough to see I'd better train in grappling," Sullivan
said. "It was a hole in my game. I didn't want to be one of those
dudes on the ground tapping out."

IF YOU GO
What: HOOKnSHOOT mixed martial arts fights

Where: Evansville Coliseum

When: 7:30 p.m. Saturday (doors open at 6 p.m.)

How much: $20 to $50 (available at the door)

Highlight: Eight-man competition for the 185-pound championship
Sullivan turned out to be prophetic: Gracie's success spurred
fighters of all styles to train in Brazilian jujitsu. Now,
traditional wrestling and kickboxing are also staples of most
fighters.

The early UFC promoted itself as gory sideshow, which soon caught the
attention of lawmakers such as John McCain. Many states banned the
events until the UFC took on new owners who agreed to new rules such
as gloves, weight classes and time limits.

The rule changes made the sport acceptable for cable broadcasters.

Promoters now like to point out that no one has been killed or
paralyzed in a UFC event, inferring that the sport is safer than
boxing and football. "I don't think they need to play that card,"
Sullivan said. "The point shouldn't be that mixed martial arts is
safer than boxing, but is it safe enough. The more people are doing
it, the more likely it is that somebody is going to get killed."

Osborne held the first HOOKnSHOOT in 1996 in the Warrick County 4-H
Center, matching area fighters. Soon the events moved to venues such
as the Evansville Coliseum and began attracting big-name fighters.

HOOKnSHOOT events weren't making much money, but Osborne was able to
stay afloat thanks to video sales on a Web site with a goldmine of a
name — fightworld.com. He even attracted the attention of the United
Arab Emirates, who paid them $500,000 to host two tournaments there
in 2000 and 2001. "We burned all that money on Evansville shows,"
Osborne said.

Next month at the Big Bully gym Osborne will hold tryouts for his
reality show, which will whittle a group of average joes down to four
or so and let them fight each other in March. "Most of the people who
think they can do it would fail the fitness test—things in high
school p.e. class you haven't done in 10 years," he said. "Everybody
seems to think they're a cage fighter now."

*_New Champions Crowned in Montreal_*

The International Wrestling Syndicate crowned a new heavyweight champion and new
tag-team champions during *Blood, Sweat and Beers 2007* at the Medley, on a
night where IWS Owner PCP Crazy F’N Manny brought the *Blood*, the Dudleyz
brought the *Sweat* and the fans b(r)ought the *Beers*!

Manny beat IWS champion Viking for the title with a little help from his friends
D-Vyne, Jagged and Shane Matthews… and a little unexpected assistance from
former Viking ally Beef Wellington. Earlier in the evening, Jagged and Shane
Matthews lost their IWS Tag Team belts to the delight of the crowd as fan
favourites the Super Smash Brothers (Player Uno and Stupefied) beat 2.0 for the
gold. What everyone was talking about though, both fans and wrestlers alike, was
the amazing effort of TNA’s Team 3D who came to Montreal to have a good time and
to work.

*IWS Blood, Sweat and Beers
/Results - Quick and Dirty/
Saturday, September 22nd
The Medley, Montreal, Quebec, Canada*
Attendance: 823

*IWS Tag Team Title Match*: Super Smash Brothers (Player Uno and Stupefied) beat
2.0 (Jagged and Shane Matthews) in 9:06. New Tag Team Champions (16th Champions)

Damian beat Lufisto in 10:22.

Twiggy and Vanessa Kraven beat the SLI 2007 (Fred la Merveille and Kenny the
Bastard) and Justin White and Tomassino in 9:56 when Vanessa hit Justin White
with a power bomb and Twiggy followed up with a Senton Splash for the pin.
/Tomassino replaced a missing Dru Onyx. (There was a death in Dru’s family.)/

Sexxxy Eddy beat the Green Phantom in 13:54 after interference by Eddy’s guests
Mitch Melnick and Andie Bennett of Montreal radio’s Team 990 Sports.

Kevin Steen defeated Jay Briscoe in 15:57.

/El Generico and Mark Briscoe were both injured. Both got involved in the match
anyway./

*IWS Canadian Title Ladder Match*: Max Boyer beat EXesS, KId Kamikaze and Jimmy
K in 15:29 to retain his IWS Canadian Title.

Team 3D and Franky the Mobster beat Pierre Carl Ouellet, “Paranoid” Jake
Matthews and Brick Crawford in 19:59 when Team 3D put Brick Crawford through a
table.
/After the match, PCO was ranting about how he has no competition in the IWS.
Sylvain Grenier came out, announced that he was a member of IWS now and
challenged PCO to a match for the next Medley show January 26th./

*IWS Title Match*: IWS Owner PCP Crazy F’N Manny beat Viking in 12:17 after Beef
Wellington gave Viking the E. Coli piledriver. Manny is the new champion. 19th
champion.

And Pat Laprade’s report of the show for Slam! Wrestling can be found here:
http://slam.canoe.ca/Slam/Wrestling/2007/09/23/4520219.html /*

*Blood, Sweat and Beers 2007* began with an energetic match pitting the old
school stylings of the IWS Tag Team Champions 2.0 (Jagged and Shane Matthews)
against the young daredevils the Super Smash Brothers (Player Uno and Stupefied)
who got the crowd into the match early with a thrilling dive sequence. 2.0 did
their best with traditional tactics – trying to isolate Stupefied for the win,
trying to cut the ring off, but the Super Smash Brothers had too much energy for
2.0 to contain. Uno hit his M. Bison top rope foot stomp to the top of Jagged’s
swelled head and Stupefied followed up immediately with a frog splash for the
win at 9:06.

/Shane Matthews would like it to be known that every time that 2.0 has lost a
title match, it was Jagged that was pinned. Not that he is pointing fingers or
anything. Also, 2.0 have never won a match at the Medley, not that Shane is
looking for an excuse or anything./

I am going to sound like an absolute creep for saying this, but there is
something absolutely inspiring about watching Damian just level a beating on
someone, even if – heck let’s really notch the creepiness level up here and say
ESPECIALLY if the victim is a woman - like the First Lady of Hardcore, Lufisto.
Not that she did not put up a fight, in fact Lufisto demonstrated that she is
the better grappler. Unfortunately, on this night, Damian was by far the more
effective striker winning with a knee stomp to the head off the top rope at
10:22.

/Back stage, nursing her bruises, Lufisto confessed to me that she was still
working out the ring rust after her serious hand and back injuries put her on
the shelf for six months, “You know that I broke my hand when Necro Butcher hit
my fist repeatedly with his skull, so maybe I am a little too cautious about
hitting someone really stiff. It does not help that I made my return from my
injury fighting against women in the Association de Lutte Feminin. The fact is
that a punch that would knock any woman in ALF on her ass except maybe Vanessa
Kraven. You hit Damian with that punch, and I did, he just sneers at you and
asks for more! Next time, I won’t punch him like I was punching a girl!”/

Speaking of the beautiful and dangerous Vanessa Kraven, she made her presence
felt at *Blood, Sweat and Beers* as Twiggy’s mystery partner. They had their
work cut out for them though as Justin White replaced the missing Dru Onyx with
the hulking Tomassino. When that brute hit Kenny the Bastard with knife edged
chops it sounded like someone was firing a shotgun inside the Medley. Kenny’s
partner Fred la Merveille supplied the comedy relief for the evening, coming to
the ring in a Montreal Canadiens jersey and leading fans in “Go Habs Go!”
chants. The six foot tall bombshell Vanessa Kraven summoned her inner She-Hulk
to take out Tomassino, leading to a victory for her new team as she power bombed
Superbrat Justin White, leaving him prey to a Twiggy Senton Splash for the win
at 9:56.

/From gossip back stage, Vanessa Kraven agreed to be Twiggy’s partner at the
last minute, “Because I have nothing better to do,” and while happy with the
win, she sees no future for this team. Twiggy seems quite oblivious to this and
envisions something a lot more permanent.

I should also mention that Dru Onyx missed the show after the sudden passing of
his father, a fine, dignified gentleman who was a welcome guest at our shows
when his son was wrestling./

It was my pleasure to act as hosts during *Blood, Sweat and Beers* for Montreal
radio personalities, Mitch Melnick and Andie Bennett from the Team 990 (
www.team990.com ) They were there to cheer Sexxxy Eddy to victory over the Green
Phantom. Andie had a legitimate beef with the IWS’ Hardcore Hero after the
Phantom gave her a pile-driver through a table during one of Mitch and Andie’s
broadcasts.
(To see that go here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=khYV0_66af4 )

It looked like they were going to be disappointed when the Green Phantom gave
Sexxxy Eddy an absolutely disgusting Phantom Menace from the apron through a
table on the outside. Phantom dragged Eddy’s carcass back into the ring,
propping him up on the top turnbuckle like a scene from *Weekend at Bernie’s*.
Eddy’s valet, Hottie Hollie tried desperately to save her frequent co-star, but
her axe-handle wouldn’t have broken through a sheet of dollar store tissue
paper, let alone stopped the Green Phantom. It did piss him off though, as the
Green Phantom has long been an opponent of women in the wrestling ring. Mitch
Melnick and Andie Bennett freaked when the Green Phantom looked like he was
going to reenact his attack on Andie with Hottie Hollie as the piledriver
victim. Mitch went low, trash-talking the Green Phantom from ring-side, while
his partner in radio crime went high with Andie rushing onto the Medley stage
from which vantage she blitzed the Green Phantom with her dr
ink (some fruity lemon concoction). As the Green Phantom staggered blind, the
IWS’ human rubber band, Sexxxy Eddy sprang to life for the pin at 13:54.

/Eddy would also like to mention that he made wrestling history at the Medley by
being the first wrestler to suck on his valet’s tits in the ring. Those tits can
be seen here:
http://www.hottiehollie.com/
Honestly, I am not certain if this dubious achievement merely duplicates
something that happened in Rob Black’s XPW and I am appalled at the possibility
that I may have to do the research to find out. Also, how can I put this? When I
say that this is a dubious achievement, I don’t mean to imply that I am opposed
to tits in general and Hollie’s in particular or sucking on said tits, I just… I
am just digging myself deeper aren’t I? Never mind. Moving on…/

The fans were highly anticipating the match that would recreate the feud that
has been burning up independent wrestling between hometown heroes Kevin Steen
and El Generico and the Briscoe Brothers. Unfortunately, Jay Briscoe dislocated
his foot in a motorcycle accident just prior to the show and El Generico was
still recovering from injuries suffered in a ladder match against the Briscoes,
so the IWS fans had to be contented with Kevin Steen vs. Mark Briscoe… which in
my estimation was the Match of the Night.

The two men put on a clinic, starting out wary of each other tricks and
gradually building in speed and intensity. When Kevin Steen looked to be in
control, Jay Briscoe hobbled out on crutches to save his brother. When that
eventually gave Mark the upper hand, El Generico limped out on a cane and
somehow managed a one-legged OLE Kick to help give his Steenerico sidekick the
upper hand. When Kevin Steen finally hit Mark with two package pile-drivers (the
first on an open chair) for the win at 15:57, the crowd exhaled with a roar,
suddenly realizing en masse that they had been holding their breath in delight
for the last few minutes of the fight.

/Just a quick kudos to both Jay Briscoe and El Generico who had every reason to
stay home and rest, but instead came to the show (Jay on crutches, by plane,
with a transfer in Toronto) to give everything that they could to help their tag
team partners even if they could not actually wrestle./

Despite failing to win the IWS Canadian title, during the ladder match pitting
Jimmy K vs. Kid Kamikaze vs. EXesS vs. champion Max Boyer, Jimmy K continued his
meteoric rise through the IWS ranks. His triple stomp off Max Boyer’s back on
the top rope, onto EXesS on the ladder and then onto Kid Kamikaze on the canvas
was a thing of painful beauty. And I really want someone to get all Zapruder on
the film for this match and count the rotations on his dive off the ladder.
Because I could have sworn that Jimmy did two full rotations before hitting Kid
Kamikaze. In the end, With Jimmy K and Kid Kamikaze having damn near kilt each
other, Boyer was able to retain his title taking out the remaining man, EXesS by
bum rushing him into a hangman on the ropes.

/The painful irony of the hangman inflicted on EXesS is that in his legendary
first match at the Medley during *Un F’N Sanctioned 2003*, EXesS faced off
against and beat fellow IWS rookie, Kevin Steen. The not-yet Mr. Wrestling took
exception to the loss and threw EXesS into a hangman on the ropes. No doubt this
is a painful memory that EXesS will not thank Max Boyer for./

When the IWS announced that TNA’s Team 3D were going to be our special guests at
the Medley, mixed with the enthusiasm was a certain amount of polite skepticism
that “They will show up, collect their envelopes and go through the motions.” I
am here to tell you that when they came to Montreal, they came with their
working boots on!

Brother Ray set the stage by accepting a pair of old school taped-up glasses and
declaring, “It’s true, we are TNA’s Team 3D, but tonight Montreal, tonight,
we’re going to be the Dudley Boyz!” While their teammate Franky the Mobster,
wearing the Dudley glasses, looked on, Bubba Dudley led the crowd in verbally
assaulting their opponents, Pierre Carl Ouellet, “Paranoid” Jake Matthews and
Brick Crawford. Bubba stepped things up a notch when the crowd went from
chanting “Losers” at PCO, Jake and Brick (“What does that make us?” asked
Bubba.) to chanting “Whore” at Jake’s valet (and wife) Lollipop. “I have got
five dollars American,” Bubba asked Lollipop to the roar of the crowd, “What
does that buy me?” Bubba announced that the match would be “An old school
Dudleyville’s Table match.”

With six mastodons prowling the ring (Franky the Mobster and Brick Crawford were
the smallest guys in the ring. How often can you say that?) it was inevitable
that the ring would be incapable of containing their fury. They rampaged through
the merchandise section sending myself, Pat Laprade (editor of the Quebec
Wrestling Almanac) and my assistant Steve Rockamaniac scurrying for cover. (This
is exactly why I put our DVD covers on the tables empty.) To my surprise, Bubba
took time off from battering Brick into one of our merchandise tables (not the
flimsy plywood ones either, the Medley has these 500 pound monstrosities that
they let us use) in order to spend time smooching Dru Onyx’ gorgeous cousin.
(Devon was macking on every female in sight before, during and after the match
and at a Medley show he was spoiled for choice. Bubba was more selective.)

When they got back into the ring, PCO, Jake and Brick were able to briefly
isolate Franky until the Dudleyz came to his aid. With the crowd chanting
“Franky Dudley!” Franky did the WASSUP spot on PCO as Devon and Bubba held the
veteran’s legs.
http://syndicatewrestling.com/images/iwsshows/matchsummaries/0709/7/pic083.jpg

In an amusing bit, Bubba shoved Devon who shoved Franky who shoved Bubba, before
all three roared, “Get the Tables!” Setting up the tables gave PCO’s team a
breather and a chance to win the match, until PCO accidentally took out Jake
(instead of Franky) with his “Dat Blue T’ing” clothesline. The Dudleyz then
combined to put Brick Crawford through a table. IWS Referee Bakais, perhaps not
quite up to date on the rules of a “Dudleyville Tables Match”, refused to award
the Dudleyz the match as the result of the broken table and would not count
three on Brick because he was wedged in the broken table with his shoulder off
the canvas, so the Dudleyz shrugged and gave Jake the 3-D for the pin at 19:59.

/I can not say it enough, the Dudleyz were GREAT. Not just in their match, not
just with the fans, but all night. Gracious with their time, generous with their
praise, even though the wrestler dressing room is on the second floor of the
Medley, Devon spent almost all of the night watching the show downstairs from
behind the stage and Bubba was there as well for most of the show. They
demonstrated their immediate understanding and appreciation of the IWS product
when the fans chanted “Dance Bubba Dance!” and Bubba did Fred la Merveille’s
comedy dance to the roar of the crowd./

After the match, Bubba led the crowd in the traditional Montreal “Goodbye” chant
to the losing team. He thanked Franky for being their partner for the night and
polled the crowd on where they should go for entertainment, “Montreal, you guys
have the hottest strippers in the whole world. I should go to Solid Gold? Thanks
Montreal. Everybody, after the show, we’re all going to Solid Gold. Franky,
you’re going to Solid Gold with us. Pierre, you were in the WWF. I kind of like
you. You can come too… but not your partners!”

Bubba then gave away a piece of the table to a lucky fan, “Patricia, you can
have this souvenir of the Dudleyz visit to Montreal. All you have to do… is take
your shirt off! Just kidding, Patricia. She’s got wood. I’ve got wood!”

/We all missed out Bubba. She was from Montreal. She definitely would have taken
her shirt off. You just had to say please./

Devon then concluded by saying, “Montreal, you are most definitely the loudest
when it comes to cheering the Dudleyz. So without further ado, O! My brother!
TESTIFY!”

After the Dudleyz cleared out, PCO went a little berserk blaming his partners
for the loss and declaring that he was sick of the lack of competition for him
in the IWS. This brought out Sylvain Grenier who announced that he was in the
IWS and that he wanted PCO at the next Medley show *Praise the Violence*
scheduled for January 26th.

In the main event of the evening, the longest reigning champion in IWS history,
Viking, faced off against IWS Owner PCP Crazy F’N Manny. The night that Viking
won the title at *Breakout 2006*, the IWS title disappeared during a mini-riot
led by Beef Wellington after Manny fast-counted the victory for then IWS
champion EXesS. Beef threatened to lead the entire locker room and all the fans
out of the IWS and when the Pied Piper proved that he could make good on his
threat, Manny reluctantly restarted the match. In the fourteen months since,
Manny consistently refused to replace the lost belt, refusing to spend money on
a champion that he despised.

/The irony of course being that Viking is a younger, crazier (and Frencher)
version of Manny. They are both alcoholic brawlers. What Manny despises in
Viking is what he hates in himself./

Manny promised that the main event would be a fight, not a wrestling match and
the two men certainly delivered on that score, killing themselves with weapons
and light tubes. Manny nearly decapatitated Viking by dropping a ring barrier on
top of him and Viking nearly murdered Manny by jumping off the Medley’s second
floor balcony on to him.

In the end, Viking was able to fight off the rather predictable appearance of
Manny’s allies, his personal assistant, the smoking hot D-Vyne and his smirking
softcore soldiers, 2.0. When Beef Wellington made an appearance and hit Manny
with his famous top rope Ass Punch it appeared that Viking had the match well in
hand. It was to the shock of everyone when Beef ambushed Viking with his E. Coli
piledriver and with a demented glare left his former friend to be pinned by an
equally puzzled Manny at 12:17.

After the match, 2.0 unveiled the new IWS belt and awarded Manny with it as the
fans booed in disgust their new champion.

/As much as I detest Manny (a lot) and as much as I hate the way that he has
treated Viking (even more so), I have to admit the new IWS belt is AWESOME and I
am glad that I was finally able to see it, even if it is around Manny’s waist.

"With miles to go before I sleep" seems applicable for yours truly at
the present time as my time management skills are being sternly tested.

Last Friday I drove over to Tulsa from Norman to watch the OU-TU college
football game from the OU sideline, which was broadcast on ESPN2 and saw
the Sooners roll over the Golden Hurricane 62-21. Two of the OU coaches
road back to Norman with me after the game, which made for some good
"football talk".

Then Saturday, Stone Cold rolled into OKC and Norman as we attended the
Oklahoma State Fair's Monster Truck Show, which sold out largely thanks
to Austin's popularity. Steve and I signed approximately 1300 autographs
for fans in 2 1/2 hours, prior to the event. Steve had been running hard
promoting the DVD release of "The Condemned" which is now on store
shelves and is outselling all new DVD releases. Nonetheless we stayed up
until about 4 a.m. sitting out in the Ross' backyard "shooting the
breeze" and watching a little college football....and perhaps enjoying a
social cocktail.

Sunday, Steve joined my wife and me at J.R.'s Family Bar-B-Q for lunch,
that Stone Cold rated as "an absolute A+" which made the Mrs. and me
both happy. Steve doesn't pass out empty compliments, even to his
friends, and has always been a guy that is going to damn sure be honest
with his feedback or when answering a question. Our food and service
stood up to a stern test with the Texas Rattlesnake with Steve trying a
wide variety of items on our menu to get the feel of our place. Read the

I wanted to let everyone know that the interview/review of my book is
now up at Greg Oliver's wonderful "Slam" wrestling website...

http://slam.canoe.ca/Slam/Wrestling/2007/08/29/4455074.html

As well as another one on a Memphis website.

http://www.memphismojo.com

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------\
-------

My internet hosting company transferred my site to a new server this
week and corrupted many of the "Memphis Program" files in my Programs
folder. Not a big deal, I've got everything digitally backed up at my
home. It did get me thinking that I really don't like the current
presentation of the programs, (listred out under the cards/results & on
ther own pages but very small). It just doesn't do them justice. With
this in mind, I've pulled all the Memphis programs off the site and am
trying to figure out a way for them displayed, formatted, etc. All the
cards & results are still there and will remain there, the same
way, (I'm happy with the way they are presented).

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------\
-------

I just purchased www.memphiswrestlinghistory.com
<http://www.memphiswrestlinghistory.com> . It points to my regular
website right now (marksfiles.com). As mentioned in the Programs info
above, I'm working on making some changes to the website. Nothing
decided yet, but i'm really pumped about the direction it seems to be
going.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------\
-------

I threw a page on my site that has some old school games (Asteroids,
Pac-Man & Space Invaders). You play on the page, nothing to download,
it's free...

http://www.marksfiles.com/games.html

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------\
-------

I've still got a week or 2 till I place my order for my belt, so the
Belt poll continues this week. As of right now, the US title and the TV
title are running neck and neck.

*_PWI names 21 Quebeckers to PWI 500_
/Including 16 IWS Regulars/*

With *IWS Blood, Sweat and Beers* at the Medley merely days away, the
wrestling bible, Pro Wrestling Illustrated, released its annual list of
the best 500 wrestlers on the planet this week, the PWI 500. Quebec had
a record number of wrestlers on the list, 21, including 16 International
Wrestling Syndicate regulars.

Recognized for their wrestling ability were the following: Kevin Steen
(IWS), El Generico (IWS), Sylvan Grenier, Max Boyer (IWS), Viking (IWS),
Jake Matthews (IWS), Dru Onyx (IWS), Sexxxy Eddy (IWS), Dan Paysan
(IWS), Franky the Mobster (IWS), Bishop, Beef Wellington (IWS) (not the
deceased Bif Wellington of Calgary), Player Uno (IWS), Chakal, Jagged
(IWS), Tank, Justin White (IWS), MVP (Ottawa?s Michael Von Payton not
the WWE?s MVP, both made the list), Pierre Carl Ouellet (IWS), Shayne
Hawke (IWS), and Shane Matthews (IWS).

Being named one of the top 500 wrestlers in the world is always an
honour, but this year more Quebeckers made the list than ever have
before. In fact according to Pat Laprade, editor of the Quebec Wrestling
Almanac, 21 Quebeckers on the PWI 500 more than doubles the best showing
by Quebec on the list and even that would be going back to the mid 90s
when the PWI 500 was still young.

So how do we celebrate this recognition that some of the best wrestlers
in the world come from La Belle Province, something which most of us
knew, but that the world is just starting to recognize?

Let me suggest two ways:

First, go out and buy a copy of the PWI 500 magazine. Its official
release date is June 25th, but it can be found now on the shelves of
most large magazine stores. If nothing else it makes a great autograph
book. Even a confirmed psycho grump like ?Paranoid? Jake Matthews can
probably be persuaded to sign the magazine that lists his name as one of
the best in the world.

Secondly, come see *IWS Blood, Sweat and Beers* this Saturday. Scheduled
to wrestle are 14 of the 21 Quebeckers who made the PWI 500 list. In
addition, Team 3D, the team formerly known as the Dudleyz, will be
appearing, as well as the Briscoe Brothers who are invading Canada to
get some payback on Team Steenerico (Kevin Steen and El Generico) who
have been making their lives miserable all over the Northeast. Needless
to say, all four of those men are on the PWI 500.

My math is a little rusty, but 14 plus 4 equals 18, which begs the
question why my boss, PCP Crazy F?N Manny is bragging that he is going
to try and push the number of PWI 500 members at Blood, Sweat and Beers
up to an even 20?

We have always bragged at the IWS that the best wrestlers in the world
show up for our Medley shows. This time around, we have proof.

WWE Hall Of Famer Jimmy Hart On People's Court

Written by: Kyle Faust - September 13th, 2007

- WWE Hall of Famer Jimmy Hart appeared on the syndicated show
"People's Court". He appeared as a witness on behalf of defendant,
Michael Barbee, who was sued for non-payment for rent.

If you guys didn't know, Barbee was involved with the World Wrestling
Legends PPV and the XWF promotion, having purchased the rights from
Hart. At one point, Barbee claimed that Hart was the top wrestling
promoter with Hart quickly responding "behind Vince McMahon. He's
number one."

Anyways back the court case. The final verdict was Barbee lost a $4950
judgment to the landlord, but not after getting a reprimanded by the
Judge. On a humorous afterwards both Hart and Barbee joked like it was
a wrestling angle.

Kamala sings!
Learning about the recording career of The Ugandan Giant
By RYAN NATION - SLAM! Wrestling

The Best of Kamala Vol. 1 CD cover

From bellying slapping to toe tapping, the man known as Kamala is
still in the ring and surprisingly enough, The Ugandan Giant can also
sing.

Born James "Jim" Harris on May 28, 1950 in Senatobia, Mississippi, he
has been recording songs over the past few years in between wrestling
appearances.

"I started singing around 2003," explained Harris to SLAM! Wrestling
from his home in Mississippi. "I always did like music, but I just had
never been in it. I had a little old portable radio around the house
with a recorder on it. I started doing a little singing and thought to
myself, 'Let's try this.' So I bought a keyboard. One thing led to
another, and I started doing a little recording here at the house.
Now, I have a small studio at my house."

Harris has written over 100 songs and produces all of his music.
Currently, he is in the early stages of writing a song for Sony
Records. His latest album entitled The Best of Kamala Vol. 1 contains
a unique blend of musical styles and tastes. For example, Harris wrote
Ashley about his niece who he helped to raise after her father killed
her mother.

"Ashley was seven-years-old at the time her mother was killed by her
father in 1993," described Harris. "She is 21 now, and I wrote the
song for her. She is going to college now and she is doing really good
in school. She is living with me. She doesn't have a mom, and her dad
is in prison for life. I take care of her and do the same thing a
father would do for her."

Harris also spoke about one of his more controversial songs that he
has written entitled No Same Pay for the Same Work, which describes
the pay discrepancies within the workforce relating to ethnicity
especially in professional wrestling.

"I might be criticized for a lot of the lyrics in it," said Harris.
"You wouldn't know it unless you've been through it, and I have
myself. I have family members and friends that have gone through the
same thing. You get a job, and they will pay another person more than
they pay you when you are doing the same work. In the lyrics, I say,
'We are doing so much better on welfare' because we know we're going
to get that. You make more on welfare than you do at your own job. I
have experienced that myself. I have never been on welfare since I've
been an adult, but I was raised on welfare. I hope I don't ever have
to do it again, so that is kind of what the song means."

Harris believes that his treatment was not just limited to him, but to
African American wrestlers in general.

"We never really made any money," added Harris. "I speak for myself
because I never did. I don't know about now. For instance Booker T. I
don't know what kind of money he makes, but I know when I was there
blacks didn't stand a chance on making money. Myself, I had to have a
second job doing something else in my spare time when I would come
home for a few days. I had an old tractor and I would go and make a
garden for people and do a little grass cutting. Now, that's how I
survived. Again, I don't know how it [working fulltime as a black
wrestler] is now, but I don't believe it has changed that much."

Another song generating some Internet buzz is Push It, with lines like
"You kept me poor when you know I put asses in the seats" and "Your
drug test's a sham!"

Between recording songs and wrestling on the independent circuit,
Harris also has a full-time job as a truck driver.

"I started driving a truck in 1970 before I started wrestling,"
recalled Harris. "I still drive a truck. I am home every night, but I
work all day long, sometimes six days a week when I'm not doing
independent shows. I had my own truck at one time, but when I started
back wrestling at independent shows plus the price of fuel went up so
high so I just let go of the truck. Then, I started driving for a
friend of mine that I went to school with. I've been with him for
about five years. Everything is pretty secure with him, which enables
me to do the wrestling on the side during the weekends. I drive a dump
truck now, but it's still an 18-wheeler, tractor and trailer. I haul
gravel, rock, asphalt, and a lot of different stuff. It's an
interesting job, I really like it."

Harris grew up in a rural area of northern Mississippi during the
1950s and '60s where he worked in the cotton fields.

"I grew up in Coldwater, Mississippi," stated Harris. "I was born in
Senatobia, which is where I live now. They are about five miles apart
within the same county. I picked and chopped cotton growing up. I
plowed with the mule. I did it all."

However, it was an altercation with local law enforcement that led to
Harris fleeing his home state as a teenager.

"In 1967, I was 17 years old. I used to do a lot of stuff like
breaking and entering. The police officer here said he was tired of me
and asked me to leave town. Back then if you didn't leave like they
said, you would be found dead somewhere. So, I got on a bus and went
to Florida to pick fruit. That's where I ended up for about five years."

At the age of 25, Harris relocated to Benton Harbor, Michigan to look
for a job to make ends meet. Instead, he began his unexpected start in
the world of wrestling.

"In 1975, I moved from Florida to Michigan," recalled Harris. "I had
sisters up there. I was looking for a job. I looked for about four or
five months for a job, and I had no money, no nothing. My sisters made
sure I had food and stuff like that. They did the best they could
because they didn't have any money.

Jim Harris' original demo CD cover, circa 2003: One Way Or Another
"I always did like wrestling on television but never wanted to become
a wrestler," continued Harris. "I just got disgusted one day with the
guy that was taking me around trying to find me a job. I said 'I ought
to go and wrestle.' He said, 'You want to wrestle?' I said 'I should'
but I didn't really mean it. He turned the car around and took me to
Bobo Brazil's house, but Bobo wasn't home. After that, he took me to a
guy named Tiny Tim Hampton, which was Bobo's best friend. He started
working out with me and later on I met Bobo. Then, I moved to Arkansas
and started training in Memphis because I couldn't stand all of the
snow up in Michigan."

Harris wrestled under such monikers as "Sugar Bear" Harris, "Ugly
Bear" Harris, Big James Harris, and The Mississippi Mauler. Much like
his start into professional wrestling, his metamorphosis into Kamala
also happened by accident.

"I had just moved back home from London at the time in 1982," recalled
Harris. "I went to the Coliseum in Memphis to see a guy named the
Dream Machine (Troy Roland Thompson Jr.) about getting some wrestling
gear because mine was coming from London by sea so it was going to
take a long time. When I went there, Jerry Lawler and Jerry Jarrett
were looking at me. I guess they were looking at me because of my size
although they had met me before, but I had had hair on my head so they
didn't quite recognize me. They asked me if I was looking for work. I
told them that I was looking for the Dream Machine but wouldn't mind
working. They told me to turn around right then, go home and we would
speak on Wednesday because they had something for me and it was going
to be good. That's exactly what I did. That Wednesday, they wanted me
to come to Hendersonville, Tennessee. That's where the Kamala gimmick
was born. Lawler did the painting on my face, and it's still very
similar today to the same thing he did back then."

A vignette was broadcasted on WMC-TV (Channel 5) in Memphis, which was
designed to introduce the character to viewers by depicting Kimala
(originally spelled with an 'i' and pronounced ke-mala) walking
through the "jungles of Africa" with a spear in hand. [Here's a
YouTube clip of it.] Harris quickly debunked past accusations that the
gimmick was insulting to him.

"Jerry Lawler and Jerry Jarrett asked me if I wanted to do it and if I
was ashamed to wear paint on my face. I told them, 'No, just lay it on
there.' They took me out by the pond, and I really enjoyed it. That
Monday night, I was at the Coliseum wrestling Lawler."

"At the time Kimala was created, I owned a one-hundred plus acre farm
in Hendersonville, Tennessee," explained long-time Memphis wrestling
promoter Jerry Jarrett to SLAM! Wrestling. "The farm had a low area
that was somewhat swampy; therefore, I let it grow naturally and it
made a great scene that fit the Africa requirement.

"You may be interested in the creation and how the name Kimala came
about," continued Jarrett. "'Sugar Bear' Harris was a huge man, but
his work rate was limited to say the least and his interview skills
were worse. However, his size and his appearance enticed Jerry Lawler
and I to try to create a character that fit his abilities. We decided
to cast him as an African who did not speak English. This role covered
for his lack of interview skills. Also being from Africa allowed him
to function without true wrestling ability. Now we needed a name and a
look. I went to my office and began looking through my stack of
National Geographic magazines. I came across an article about a Doctor
Kimala, who was doing research in Uganda. Kimala The Ugandan Giant was
born. Jerry Lawler, being an artist, painted his body and bought the
mask, beads, etc. to fit the role. Kimala was a huge success for us
and went on to become a huge success everywhere he went. It could not
have happened to a nicer or more deserving person."

Although Harris would go on to work for a number of companies and
promoters throughout the world, he considers his stint working for
Bill Watts in Mid-South Wrestling and later the Universal Wrestling
Federation his most lucrative.

"Regardless of what people say about Bill Watts, he was a good man to
me and treated me well from my experience with him," added Harris. "I
made money with Bill Watts. I have to give credit to him because my
money was right there. I saved every dime and bought the house that
I'm in and 50 acres of land. If I had waited until I went to some
other place like the WWF or any other promotion, I would probably
still be living in an apartment or homeless. I haven't seen him in
years, but we do talk by e-mail once in a while."

In his autobiography The Cowboy and the Cross, Watts writes, "Kamala,
Jim Harris, was just a natural talent. He'd been a journeyman wrestler
as James 'Sugarbear' Harris until 1982 when Jerry Jarrett in Memphis
turned him into the Ugandan giant. Kamala came to me from Jarrett in
1982. I put him with Skandor Akbar as his manager, and Akbar was a
tremendous stabilizing influence. Kamala was an awesome piece of
talent, but he needed that stabilizing force."

Harris returned to WWE for the gimmick battle royal at WrestleMania
X-7 in Houston. Since then, he has made few cameo appearances and
signed a WWE Legends contract in 2005.

"When signing the legends contract, I was very hesitant of signing it
because I didn't want to give up the rights to my music and lyrics,"
recalled Harris. "I made them do me another contract because my music
career might kick off one day and it might not. I didn't want them to
have anything to do with it. They rewrote the contract into my favor
to where I liked it, but the legends deal is not worth nothing. They
pay you money up front for doing it, but then you are supposed to draw
royalties so they take all of that back. They give you x-amount of
dollars for signing the contract. Okay, in the contract it states that
the money is recoupable. Let's say you're supposed to get a royalty
check for five hundred dollars this quarter. They deduct that from the
money they give you for signing, they deduct that until they get it
all back. They do that for five years. If it's not all back in five
years, then that's their loss but they're not really losing. They want
you to think that. With the contract, WWE just owns the licensing
rights to the character for five years and not the character itself.
The contract expires in about three years."

Earlier this summer, it was reported that Harris was contacted to
appear at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto for the May 28 taping of
Saturday Night's Main Event, which aired on June 2. Harris clarified
the actual chain of events with SLAM! Wrestling.

"The last time I was with WWE was at Monday Night Raw on June 26, 2006
wrestling against Umaga. It was October before I got paid. The pay was
so bad, like $400. I said to myself I'm finished with the WWE. I know
I won't be getting a full-time contract with them because I'm too old,
and that's understandable. They called me and wanted me to do a show
in Canada. When they called me, I said, 'No thanks, I'm not interested
at all' and they wanted to know why. I said because of my pay and that
I waited till October to receive it. I don't live off of wrestling
anyway because I have a job, but waiting that long for a check for
$400 to do a job to Umaga -- I have nothing against Umaga at all. He's
a great guy. I've known him since he was about 12 years old. However,
I didn't want to go up there to just say I'm on WWE TV.

"Howard Finkel is the one that called me," continued Harris. "He
didn't understand and asked me why I felt that way so I told him. I
said, 'I make more money driving a truck than I will going through all
of the hassle of being at the arena at 11 in the morning and sitting
there until 11 at night just to do a job and wait four or five months
for a $400 check.' He told me he didn't know that, and Howard may not
have known. He said, 'Let me call some people; don't just close the
door right now. He said let me call some people and find out how much
you're going to make.' I said, 'You're welcome to do that and call me
back if you want, but I'm still not interested.' He said, 'If the
money was to your satisfaction, you would.' And I said, 'Yeah, I would
be glad to do it.' I don't want to go up there to say I'm in the WWE
because that doesn't mean a hill of beans to me. Howard called back
and left me a message saying it won't be happening and that was it. I
had seen in the legends contract where they want you to make
appearances, but I won't make them for nothing. I will never make any
appearances unless I receive a contract stating I will receive
x-amount of dollars to my satisfaction. I don't believe they will do
that because I do not mean anything to them. I don't care if I ever
work for them again. I don't care about the publicity. All I care
about is the money to put food on my table and that's it. Anything
else can go to hell."

With the impending investigation of drug and substance abuse in
professional wrestling by the United States Congress, Harris offered
his views about the hotbed issue.

"I think they should investigate," stated Harris. "When I was there
[in the WWE during the '80s and early '90s], everybody was smoking
marijuana and doing steroids. That includes [Hulk] Hogan and all of
them. I have a lot of respect for Hogan, but the truth is just the
truth. I have seen Hogan put steroids right in his arm, and then I've
seen guys giving each other shots. How could Hogan pass a drug test
and then some of the lower card guys fail a drug test? Vince [McMahon]
had the name and the number beside each person that took the drug
test. From my understanding, the lab only had the number so if anybody
failed a drug test, then the lab would send the number back to Vince.
The lab didn't have the actual name. When the lab sent the number back
to Vince, Vince could make the final decision. If a lower card guy
failed the drug test, he would fine him. A lot of guys I knew were
doing everything from steroids to cocaine every night, and I never
heard a one of them flunking a drug test. Myself, I had nothing to
hide. They could test me anytime they wanted to. I smoked marijuana
twice in my life, and it was in the WWF. I passed all of the drug
tests, and I was always there on time. They really messed me over,
they wouldn't pay me. I did my job the best I knew how. My motto is if
I would have went there and started doing drugs and partying with them
every night, I would have made money. If I would had been a part of
all of the gay sex going on at the time, then I would have been in and
making money."

However, Harris did add that he never saw any drug use during his last
few cameo appearances within WWE. Although Kamala will likely never
appear in WWE again, he has no intentions of slowing down.

"I stay booked pretty solid," said Harris. "I can still go, and I feel
good. I don't move as fast as I used to because I'm 57 years old, but
I still entertain and generate a response. I will still wrestle for a
little longer, but I'm not sure how much longer to be exact."

Harris then offered a parting thanks to his fans: "I want to thank all
of my fans for supporting me for nearly three decades. I have some
fans that e-mail me and ask why I'm not in the WWE Hall of Fame. I
don't know a lot about their hall of fame, but I probably will never
be in it. Back about two weeks ago, I was inducted into a hall of fame
in a little place in Arkansas. It brought tears to my eyes because as
much work as I did for a big company like WWE, they never thought of
me but a small independent company inducted me into their hall of fame
in a tiny town. I made a speech there and thanked all of them.
Worldwide, I would like to thank all of my fans who have supported me,
those who have cheered me and those who have booed me. I did my best
to entertain and be interesting to them. They paid their money to get
in and see me, and I want them to know that I love them from the
bottom of my heart and always will."
