--Reports from Steve Doll's sister Jana Doll are that Steve is making a
recovery. He's still listed in critical condition and is out of ICU.
Jana
Doll said he was not on live support and that they are expecting a full
recovery.

This came from one of the newsgroups. I can not verify the facts but
thought that I would post it.

Yes, when fans are talking about you 25 years after you retired, you are a
legend :-)

My hero, my dad, Jackie Fargo! I wish he would participate in more wrestling
activities, but he says he doesn't want to be out there just for the sake of
being out there. As always, he is definitely a character, full of himself,
and the Fabulous One to so many that love him everyday, from near and far,
neighbors, fans and family!

Thank you all for the wonderful memories! I am in CA, but hope I can make it
to one of the show, there are so many great guys I knew as a little girl, but
haven't seen in a very long time.

Take care all!!!
J

I think how many people would pay to see Elvis, if he were still around

young, and if you feel they are worth paying your respects to now..

later on in the late 70s we got wtbs that carried georgia championship wrestling
so any date i had she had to be cool with the wrestling we spent sat morning
watching Memphis & sat.nite from 5:05pm till 7:05 pm watching georgia then we
could go somewhere & alot of times it was to a wrestling event that had some of
the guys that are going to be on the legends show oh yea wrestling came on wbbj
ch.7 at 11pm sat.nite so we would watch it also alot of time at her house with
her father who would tell of the wrestling he had seen in years past . I`ve
loved wrestling since first seeing it on tv & i am proud to say i have around
2000 tapes of wrestling most of them are memphis so will i be there to see a
80+ year old Sputnik Monroe & a 70 something Jackie Fargo yep & i wished I could
see Tojo,Sam Bass,Plowboy, and the other MEMPHIS STARS who have passed on, do I
care if Tommy Rich is overweight &cannot work a match like he did 20 years ago
no He`s still Tommy Rich the Youngest NWA worlds Champion(by beating Harley
Race) and that was when the Belt meant something, Fargo is still Fabulous,
Monroe is still the cadillac & diamond ring man , Hickerson & Condrey still have
that mean look that made a 12 yo kid wet his pants in 1976 when i threw a cup &
hit Hickerson with it & he jumped off the ring and started after me, Dr. Ken
Ramey & the Interns man what a treat just to see these guys & share some stories
with them that will be the greatest feeling in the world(my childhood HEROES)
hey rebel if you get a chance send me an email and we can talk about the old
days of wrestling at roostersnest@...

They put the feeding tube in this morning but they had to put it in
through her mouth because they found an ulcer in her colon, what my
family has been told is that it was cauterized, right now the thing to
worry about is if would burst but if not it should hill in 2-3 days.
They think this might be why she hasn't been able to eat, because it
makes you nauseas and makes you not want to eat. She seems to be doing
better, her color is better and she's sound more like her self now.
Thank you to everyone for keep us in your thoughts and prayers)and
please continue to do so, we really appreciate them.

I couldn't agree more about the Legends Show being a great value. I am 45 years
old and I can't even begin to say how much I have enjoyed Memphis Wrestling over
the years. I will be at the Legends Show in Jackson to say " Thanks " to the
wrestlers that I grew up watching on TV every Saturday morning.
I didn't watch wrestling with my father, but I do watch it with my son as much
as possible. I was at the Dundee Legends Show in Jackson with my son and my
grandson and had the time of my life seeing the joy in my 5 year old grandson's
eyes as he watched the show.
I remember the summer of ' 77 when me and a carload of friends would make the
trip from Atwood, TN to Memphis every Monday night to see these same wrestlers
making themselves into Legends. They aren't as good now as they were then, but
neither am I.
My son grew up and has begun to wrestle around the Martin, TN area and I would
be really proud if he is able to give some kids the kind of memories that the
Memphis Legends gave me and my friends all those years ago.

I agree it is not about if they can still do the things that they used
to do 20-40 years ago..It is the idea of seeing the real icons...the
ones that we saw "Saturday on TV" the Monday night memories...Oh to see
Tojo, Saul Weingroff, Oni Wiki Wiki, Sam Bass, Nick Gulas and the great
theme music.."It's America's favorite sport on W-H-B-Q

Paul,
I guess if you put it that way (below) than it doesn't
seem as costly. I grew up with MW. My friends and I
would all alternate sendding in SASE so that we would
be able to go every Saturday. I also went every MOnday
night to the Coliseum for YEARS.

GOing to MW was a special thing that my dad and I did.
SOme of my best memories of my dad are of us
watching/going to wrestling. Even after I grew up (got
married/had kids) we would watch wrestling together on
Saturdays (over the phone). Actually, the last time I
talked to my dad was a Sat. am wrestling show. That
night he went into a coma and never woke up. (1994)

The bond with my dad is one reason I started taking
Joey. He was only 2 yrs old when Dad died. It helped
him to feel like he was "connected" to his grandfather
somehow. Then it became more specail for him because
we got to know some of the guys and met a very special
friend lady who used to work for MW. SHe got us in
early and free. We got to help set up, and go back
stage at the Coliseum shows. I guess Joey got spoiled
and was so used to "special treatment" so just being a
fan didn't pertain to him.

Thanks for helping me remember what MW "is all about"
even though the action is not near as good, the
"oldies" don't get around near as well, etc.

Have a blessed day,
becky

I think it's bc most of the ppl they bring back for
"legends" shows are ppl who wrestled in the 70s and
80s. The others are either no longer with us or unable
to try to get out. Heck, half of the guys from the 70s
and 80s (that I grew up with) are not getting around
as great either.

I too love MW from the past, but seeing the "old" guys
now is sad. I remember thinking guys like the RnR
Express and Fabs were hot. Now they're going bald, and
don't love coming out for the fans like they used to.
I waited all day to get my pic. made with the RnR last
time, but Robert showed up at the last minute than
left as soon as the match was over. Rick was there all
day, but I was trying to wait for Robt. so it wouldn't
seem like I was bugging him all day. (I helped set up
for the matches that day and was there from like 1 pm)

Also, most of the time when either the Fabs or RnR are
scheduled, one doesn't show. I remember having "Rick
Morton's brother" there once, and Steve Keirn being a
no show.

I would LOVE to see Austin Idol and TOmmy Rich.
Haven't seen them in over 20 years.

I agree with you Tina. My son and I were going to
wrestling every Sat. as well as all coliseum shows a
little over a year ago. Then, we just lost interest.
My son doesn't even want to watch MW most of the time
and hasn't really got a lot of interest to go anymore.
We did go when the Boogeyman was in S'haven. We may go
to the Legends Show- Joey hasn't said anything about
wanting to go. The last time I saw the guys who I used
to like, I was so disappointed.

Brian,
Thanks for the update. I had no clue what was going
on. We used to talk to Dustin all the time, but hadn't
much in a while- especially since his myspace went
down. (anyone know what's up with that???)

Thanks again,

seeing people who gave me so much enjoyment growing up, and made my
week of schoolwork go by fast.. spending all week talking about what
happened on tv the past Saturday with my friends; grabbing the Tuesday

enjoying thinking back on so many Saturdays my father [who passed away

do I expect the legends to put on a show like they did 10/20/30 years

for me, the $20-$30 I plan to pay to see the legends again pales in
comparison to the memories they have provided me since I first started
watching Memphis wrestling in the middle 60's..

I think how many people would pay to see Elvis, if he were still around
today also.. I guess it all depends on who you admired when you were
young, and if you feel they are worth paying your respects to now..

The city has acquiesced to the developers in the Upton and Greenlaw
neighborhoods. So now not only is the Wrestling show cancelled but the
Block Party and Spiritfest has been cancelled. Bummer.

Thanks to all of the guys who desired to participate and hopefully we
can have this to actually happen soon somewhere...

I'm a little surprised. I've never been to a Memphis Legends show so I'll admit
up front I
don't really know what I'm talking about but I thought the line-up sounded
pretty good. I
mean when it comes to legendary Memphis wrestlers they don't get much more
famous
than Sputnik Monroe and Jackie Fargo. And Tommy Rich, Ken Ramey and the
Interns, and
Handsome Jimmy are all pretty much associated with the heyday of Memphis
wrestling
aren't they?

I can understand the point about these guys not being in the shape or having the
abilities
that they once did but do you really go to this type of event to watch the
legends wrestle?
I would think it would be cool just to be around some of the guys who made
Memphis
Wrestling what it was. Just my two cents.

I'm curious, how could such an event be made better?

Till her potassium can be taken care of she won't be moved off the
floor she's on. She's going to have to have a feeding tube put in
because of her not eating. We talked to a endochronclogist(sp) and he
told us her cortizole(stress hormone) is high, they'll test it and
it's not hard to take care of, medicine, same way with her potassium
being low is hormone based so that can be taken care of with medicine.
It looks like alot of her problem is with her hormones. I want to
thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers, and just keep them
coming because we really do need them.

Depending on how my grandmother is doing, I might go. Right now would
only like to see Ken Ramey and the Interns, Doug Gilbert and Tommy
Rich. I'll probably get the $10 tickets though.

If tickets were $30.00 to meet the legends, I'd be more excited
about the Legends show in Jackson, but that's steep for a low end
group of legends.
