It sounds like the main arena part(Arena/Football)(that's where Cory
was standing in at the start of the show), I know the tickets are
suppossed to go on sale Wednesday(guess we'll find out Wednesday).
Me and my uncle were talking about it was good that we didn't go on
and get tickets. Also Cory said the ticket prices would stay the
same.

Cory just said that they decided to move it to the DCC. I figure the
Grizzlies had something to do with it, also the city is suppossed to
figure out what there going to do with the Coliseum and the
Fairgrounds in a few months so the city might not want anything going
who knows.

The Desoto Civic Center website is at http://www.desotociviccenter.com/ .
I have heard before that the Grizzlies and the Fedex Forum has been running
a lot of stuff out of town due to the contract which gives them first choice
over everything and if that they cannot have it at the Forum that they
cannot have a show at any of the other big venues like the Midsouth
Coliseum.

JIMMY HART TALKS ABOUT HULK HOGAN'S REALITY SHOW, THE WWE HALL OF FAME CEREMONY,
ORNDORFF STIFFING HOGAN AT THE HALL AND MORE
by James Walsh @ 1:55:00 PM on 5/27/2005
Show: The Interactive Interview (Courtesy of www.WrestlingEpicenter.com)
Guest(s): "Mouth of the South" Jimmy Hart & Al Snow
Date: May 26, 2005
Your Hosts: Erik Clancy, Chuck D, & James Walsh
Recap By: James Walsh
This week on TII, we bring you yet another double-header. As our live broadcasts
have been MIA due to the station's renovations, we've had a ton of fantastic
interviews to report. So, we're offering you 2 different audio shows to make up
for our lack of live broadcasts. But, don't panic, we return LIVE on Tuesday,
May 31 at 7 p.m. MST (1- p.m. EST) on "The Blaze" 1260 AM with a major superstar
interview as well as your opportunity to win tickets to check out RAW on Monday,
June 20 at America West Arena in Phoenix, Arizona as well as your chance to win
tickets to check out one of my all-time favorite bands Whitesnake at the Marquee
Theatre in Tempe on June 30! Who said the Rock 'n' Wrestling Connection was ONLY
a cartoon show?
The two shows you can listen to now are two very different shows. One includes
an interview with WWE Hall of Famer "Mouth of the South" Jimmy Hart. The other
contains an interview with WWE Tough Enough Coach and WWE superstar Al Snow.
You're going to want to check these interviews out as Erik Clancy, Chuck D, and
James Walsh deliver the goods like no other!
To listen to our Jimmy Hart interview, visit
http://www.wrestlingepicenter.com/shows/JimmyHart/2.ram
-- Jimmy Hart starts out by saying he just got back from Brooke Hogan's Birthday
Party in Universal Studios in Orlando. She turned 17.
-- Jimmy thinks Brooke's career is about to take off. She just signed with
Britney Spears' agent and the tracks she cut recently are tremendous.
-- Jimmy loved being at the Hall of Fame ceremony. "What I said came from the
heart. There were just so many people to thank," said Jimmy.
-- Jimmy explains that the 80's WWF was the "who's who" of professional
wrestling. Hogan, Piper, Orndorff, Andre, etc, etc. Jimmy feels honored to be
remembered with that group of guys and loved seeing some of them again at the
Hall of Fame. James explains how his favorite era of wrestling was the 1980's
WWF Rock 'n' Wrestling era.
-- Jimmy doesn't believe there was any motive behind Paul Orndorff not standing
up to hug Hogan at the Hall of Fame. He knows that Paul has had a bad neck for a
while now and thinks he may have been in pain.
-- Chuck mentions that when he and James attended the Road to Wrestlemania event
where the WWE treated them tremendously, they had occasion to see one of Jimmy
Hart's jackets on display with Andre's boots and one of Kurt Angle's singlets.
Jimmy jumps in saying how happy he was to be included as part of that and
mentions he had a great time being a part of the Road to Wrestlemania in
Minnesota.
-- Erik asks where Jimmy gets his "crazy jackets." Jimmy laughs at that and
mentions how Dick Clark told him when he was on tour with "Dick Clark's Caravan
of Stars" that if you dress like the audience, who the heck will pay to see you?
James mumbles "Note to modern rock bands..."
-- Staying on music, James mentions that Jimmy Hart once did a video on Memphis
TV pretending he actually performed the song "Metal Health" (Bang Your Head) by
Quiet Riot. This song was the theme song of the Legends of Wrestling game and
also happens to be one of James' favorite anthems. Jimmy laughs as he remembers
the video they shot for it and talks about doing the music for the Legends of
Wrestling game. Jimmy says someone is looking to continue the Legends of
Wrestling video game series as Acclaim went bankrupt and obviously won't be
doing so anymore.
-- Jimmy just sent in a box of tapes to the WWE offices as per their request of
a lot of the old WCW theme songs he recorded. He says he doesn't know for sure
but he has heard they may be putting out a "Best of WCW" CD soon.
-- James mentions how great some of the old WCW themes were such as American
Made and Rap is Crap. He also mentions that Rap is Crap actually got air play on
country music stations and instead of WCW running with it, they just stamped it
out and killed it. Jimmy laughs and tells a story about how Curt loved to sing
and how this was a perfect gimmick for him. But, the Southern crowd loved the
song and were starting to like the entire West Texas Red Necks. Jimmy says at
the time, WCW had signed a big contract with Master P and he said he would sell
out the arena in Louisiana. Well, they didn't even come close. And, at that show
that Master P thought he'd be a big face and get a pop, the crowd boo'd him out
of the building and cheered the West Texas Red Necks. Jimmy says the next day he
got a call from the WCW office saying, "Jimmy, you killed Master P!" Jimmy said,
"He's not on our roster!" Jimmy gets animated stating how they should've run
with the Red Necks since the fans liked them. He then lets out an
uncharacteristic "shit" as a sigh. Funny stuff!
-- Jimmy tells a story about when he was backstage at Wrestlemania, he ran
backstage to get ready to go out on the stage and when he ran in, a guy was
there wearing a baseball cap. Jimmy thought it was a fan of some kind so he was
talking to him while trying to get ready and the fan kept telling him how he is
a fan of his from way back and how he remembers watching Jimmy with his family.
Jimmy thanked him but still thought it was a fan. After a photo was taken with
him, he was told it was Adam Sandler! Jimmy felt honored by that and just
recently received a copy of that photo which he is happy to have.
-- Jimmy mentions he was going back and couldn't decide what jacket to wear out,
the "crazy" Jimmy Hart jacket or the black "Johnny Cash look" jacket. After the
incident with Sandler, he asked Stephanie McMahon which to wear and Stephanie
said, "I want you to be Jimmy Hart." Jimmy says he was absolutely honored by
that.
-- Jimmy will be a part of the upcoming "Hogan Knows Best" reality show. When
asked how often he'll be seen on the show, he says "as often as I could get on
camera." He says it is a funny show and people should watch. The 4 on the phone
then discuss a funny scene where Jimmy and Brian Knobs monitor Brooke on her
first date and how Jimmy intentionally dressed crazier than usual.
-- Jimmy's book is now available in stores. Buy it now at
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/1550225952/qid=1117081925/sr=2-1/ref=pd_b\
bs_b_2_1/002-3122475-1092035.
-- We wrap up with Jimmy as he says, "I love you." It's always a great honor to
talk to the "Mouth of the South!"

Roxie,
I don't think it's just one thing I liked about him.
He just put on a REALLY GOOD SHOW. His style was/is so
out there so I guess that appealed to me because he
wasn't/isn't you typical baby face or heel. He is
unique. I also loved his song..LOL

Becky, I agree, I really liked his sadistic style of wrestling myself.
He would really work over the joints, snapping the fingers and
twisting on the face. He was good...tell me what you liked about his
style?

KENTUCKY FRIED RASSLIN'
By Scott Bowden
May 26, 2005
Scott Bowden addresses Kevin Lawler's arrest in Memphis. Also under The KFR
Heat Lamp this week: Lita and Edge deliver a wonderfully slimy heel promo,
Cena solidifies his street cred and McMahon, Heyman and Bischoff rewrite
history.again.
As a lot of you know by now, Jerry Lawler's son Kevin was arrested Monday
night in Memphis for alleged burglary. Not surprising that WREG Channel 3
enthusiastically reported the alleged break-in as the lead story on their
Web page for more than 24 hours. Channel 3 is the home of newscaster Jerry
Tate, father of corrupt-cop David Tate, who was allegedly plotting to break
into the King's castle and knock him off the throne for a jukebox "stuffed
with $250,000." At any rate, the story goes that Kevin supposedly broke into
a woman's apartment in Memphis before passing out in her bed wearing nothing
but a red tank top.
Like so many people, I immediately said to myself, "Whoa. Surely they mean
Brian Lawler, right?" (In fact, three voice-mail messages on my cell phone
echoed those sentiments.) Alas, it was indeed Kevin, a good friend of mine,
who was collared. The way the WREG report was written, you get the idea that
Kevin was chased from the apartment and immediately nabbed nearby in
Raleigh, a dodgy suburb of Memphis. (I'm ashamed to admit that even I
assumed the worst.) Not so.
According to the victim, the alleged break-in occurred around 9 p.m. Problem
is, Kevin, who owns Jerry Lawler's Carpet Cleaning Service in Memphis, tells
me that he was cleaning a local business after hours at that time. According
to Kevin, he arrived home (near the woman's apartment) around 3 a.m. He went
downstairs to check his mail when, as he tells it, three guys sped up in a
car declaring, "That's him. Get him." They exited the car and chased him
around the complex, eventually cornering him. As Kevin tells it, he thought
they were about to rob him; instead, they called the police. When Memphis'
finest arrived, the three young men claimed to be friends of the alleged
victim, and they recounted her claims. As a precaution, Kevin was arrested.
Now, I'm sure some of you think I'm defending Kevin solely because he's my
friend. I understand that; however, you have to know and understand Kevin.
Like his father, Kevin has never tasted a drop of alcohol. He's never
remotely even thought about taking a narcotic of any kind. (Which, quite
frankly, is why some people initially thought they had named the wrong
Lawler brother.) In my opinion, there is no way Kevin would break in and
pass out in a woman's bed - it's insane. For as long as I've known him, he's
bragged about his sobriety, wearing it like a championship belt.
To be honest, because of the now-questionable WREG negative slant, I
initially assumed that perhaps Kevin had screwed up.royally. But as I
replayed everything in my mind, the only part that didn't ring true was the
fact that there's no way Kevin would be under the influence of anything -
except perhaps Dr. Pepper. (Supposedly, one of the arresting officers urged
Kevin, "C'mon, tell me. Did you break in, got high and fell asleep?" I can't
even possibly fathom Kevin doing that. Again, not to sugarcoat anything: I
thought that perhaps Kevin, who sometimes wears his heart on both sleeves,
had perhaps broken into an ex-girlfriend's place to talk things over. After
reading the WREG report, it was the only logical explanation.
That all changed when I spoke to Kevin Wednesday morning. He expects to be
exonerated quickly as he claims to have an airtight alibi. Besides, Kevin
swears he never stepped into the apartment, so his fingerprints won't be
found. As you might imagine, because he's Jerry Lawler's son, the local
media has smothered Kevin like Crusher Blackwell on many a hapless jobber.
Through it all, Kevin's maintained his sense of humor, even joking with his
jailers, "You're not gonna put me in there with David Tate, are you?"
Until all the facts come out, believe what you will. Me? I believe Kevin
Lawler. He's no saint (God, I sound like Lita now), but the whole incident
sure doesn't sound like the Kevin Lawler I know. Now . on to more trivial
matters.
Extreme Makeover: While there were faults with the three-way promo with
Vince McMahon, Eric Bischoff and Paul Heyman, it was interesting seeing the
three wise men (or is it the three stooges?) of wrestling together in a ring
for the first time. (If only Ted Turner had come out of the audience to nail
McMahon with a steel chair.) Yes, of course, they all three had their own
version of how the wrestling war was won and lost - I'd have been
disappointed otherwise as it made for entertaining TV. (While this all was
certainly scripted, it could have been a shoot, especially from the
perspectives of McMahon and Bischoff.) Clearly, it was questionable to have
McMahon reveal he's bankrolling the whole ECW PPV venture but only the
densest marks would have to believe that Heyman was resurrecting the rebel
promotion on his own. (Hey, it could have been worse - Steph could have been
involved.) Granted, the whole discussion of ECW as a brand between McMahon
and Bischoff could rub salt in the eyes of some hardcores, most former fans
of the Philly promotion will order the PPV for what is: simple nostalgia.
Other fans, the ones who were for years perhaps WWF/WCW fans but ignorant of
the hardcore heaven that was the ECW Arena might order it because they are
simply curious. (Admittedly, I'm somewhere in between, as I watched ECW only
sparingly in the mid-'90s, but I've grown to appreciate it more since that
time.) Most assuredly it will be better than most WWE PPVs nowadays.
The Edge of Night: The latest twist in the Matt Hardy/Lita soap opera
playing out over the Internet took a wicked twist of fate (ahem) on Monday's
RAW, with WWE pulling the trigger on what could ultimately be their hottest
angle of the year. A week after screwing over her on-screen love interest
Kane, Lita appeared alongside Edge, the man she cheated with to put the
screws to real-life love interest Matt Hardy. Quite frankly, it was the most
effective promo I've ever seen Lita conduct, despite the fact that she was
reportedly reluctant to participate because it was too personal. You can cut
the irony with a foreign object. (Kudos to Bruce Mitchell at THE TORCH for
also pointing out the irony of Jerry Lawler making light of Kane's - i.e.,
Matt's - hurt feelings by saying, "What's the big deal? Breakups happen all
the time.")
Welcome to the rasslin' business, sweetheart - personal issues draw money.
If WWE creative hasn't already carefully broached the possibility of a
return with Hardy, they should. (Again, it's ironic that it took something
like this for creative to find Hardy something to do.) Some have speculated
that this will be revealed to have been an carefully conceived angle all
along-nah, there's no way WWE creative could come up with something this
good.
Quite the Cellsman: Also on RAW, Triple H returned from what must have an
agonizing one-week absence from TV. They again made their top babyface look
foolish by teasing us with yet another Flair babyface turn. Thing is, if
they had shown patience and let this develop for just two more weeks - with
Flair slowly gaining Batista's trust in Triple H's absence - this could have
been a hot angle.
And, as COMICS 101 Prof. Scott Tipton pointed out to me, after the attack,
it should have been Batista demanding the Hell in a Cell match-up. The way
it came off, Batista got his ass kicked after being duped and is now backed
into corner: He must accept the Game's challenge and play by Triple H's
rules. Not exactly brilliant rasslin' psychology. That being said, I haven't
been this excited about Hell in a Cell since the match-up with Trips and
Kevin Nash. (Cough.)
The Rap on Cena: John Cena's bloodbath with JBL at JUDGMENT DAY could be the
catalyst for getting him over on a broader level.
I'm sure most guys like me don't care for the gimmick-but then I was turned
off by the rap persona after years of overexposure to PG-13 in Memphis.
Despite the lame finish, Sunday's bout illustrated that Cena is a tough son
of a bitch who can back up his bravado. The guy's got a ton of potential on
top.

Well I also hear that there will be wrestling in Dyersburg. Location to be
determined. Will it be LAW or will it be another promotion? I keep
hearing that the old promoters were coming back. I like LAW but I enjoyed
MACW more. LAW was great when they first did the invasion angle. But when
they started with the younger and smaller wrestlers, I think it was a
mistake. Then DK over played the heel role. DK also never knew when to end
a show. 1am or later in the morning for a local Indy show was just plain
dumb in my book. I don't think that it is possible but I sure would like to
see MACW come back. I always enjoyed Moe's selection of wrestlers and
bookings. LAW in Ark is just going to be too much of a drive, unless they
come on down a lot closer to Memphis.

As reported, next week's episode of TNA Impact is slated to be the final
episode on Fox Sports Net for the time being since their current deal
expires and neither side has shown interest in renewing.
TNA is in ongoing talks with WGN but a deal has not been reached yet. The
deal being discussed would give TNA a weekday primetime slot, possibly even
on Monday night against RAW.
Talks continue with Spike TV as well but even if a deal is reached, Spike
TV likely wouldn't start airing TNA until their new fall schedule starts.
Not having a TV show on through the entire summer while still running PPVs
could be a risky thing to do on TNA's end. The WGN deal would get TNA back
on TV right away.

Hal,
With you on this one, we need to wait until Kevin has his day in
court.
Regarding Dyersburg and where L.A.W. is going... try Arkansas. Jeff
O' Dell (who owns the name, promotion, and the ring) has been doing
dates in Paragould and Rector and putting some of the shows on
Jonesboro's KAIT channel 8 late night Fridays. (I'm doing commentary
on that). I am saddened to hear about the D-E-C being sold. That
building was specifically built for professional wrestling and now
it will be filled with stray animals from the humane society.

guess you can assume it is true. Or should we go check the
fingerprints?

When did son Kevin break into anything. If I heard right, he is saying it
is a case of mistaken ID. It was not him. He has not even been to court,
but already people on this list have him guilty and real to send him to
jail. I am at least willing to wait until the court decides.
I just got the word that wrestling at the Dyersburg Entertainment Center is
shutting down this after next weekend. I don't know if that means that LAW
is out of business or they are just moving. Since I am not able to attend
the shows there any longer, I get very little information from there. But
this just came from somebody who should know. More if I hear more.
