Gregory,
First, gotta give it to your Rebels!
In Greenville, in front of an estimated 400, local guy Havoc lost to Blade
Boudreaux in a okay opener. Blade drives from Gonzales, Louisiana to work these
NWA New South events.
Blazing Star (masked Mexican guy) retained the "X title" over Black Diamond when
Diamond's heel manager turned on him and cost him the match.
"Brass Knux" champion Cowboy Cody Mantell over Lord Humongous by DQ when Hugo
started destroying Mantell with chairshots.
Steve Anthony (a top indy worker IMO) went to a 15-minute time limit draw with
NWA New South Cruiserweight champion Malik Avalon....good match, a few insane
spots out on floor in front of us at the announce table. They come back with a
rematch with a 30-minute time limit next time.
"Old-School Assassin" John Saxon pinned Mercury McCloud in a solid bout, then as
MM attacked Saxon after the promoter Bob Serio made the save.
In the main event, Jerry Lawler
defeated "Dangerous" Doug Gilbert (big surprise huh?) using a "stone-cold
stunner" in a 30 minute bout. Doug was excellent here working up good heel heat
that Jerry just stood in the ring and watched. Standard bout for these two but
still good. Lawler didn't bump at all if I recall correctly.
The action was good, the finishes made sense, but the heat was almost
non-existence as the fans were only there for one reason: to see "the King".

P.S. oh yeah, indy worker Scott Storm from Kentucky drove 8 hours to be there
but didn't work....and I had driven 2 hours up from Jackson. We could have
worked with each other or even tagged me and Havoc against Blade and Storm. No
tag match on the card seemed to hurt IMO.
