Members of Melbourne Outrigger Canoe Club (MOCC) paddle for fitness and fun, and to compete in local, interstate and international races.

Outrigger canoeing is a strength and endurance sport based on Polynesian traditions. It’s a great team sport for people of all levels of fitness.

MOCC is a member of the Australian Outrigger Canoe Racing Association (AOCRA), which overseas and organises races throughout Australia with rules based on those created by the Hawaiian Canoe Racing Association. There are regular Victorian zone races involving local clubs during the season. In addition, MOCC participates in major Australian races such as the challenging 53km Hamilton Cup in the Whitsundays. Members have also raced in Hawaii, Tahiti and Guam.

MOCC operates from Sandridge Beach at Port Melbourne (Melways 56 G3). Our bayside base near the mouth of the Yarra allows us to paddle on Port Phillip Bay or the river, meaning that we can train safely in most weather conditions.
