Did anyone get a questionable email supposedly from Sue Roethel noting she was
in Madrid and needed cash?? Has anyone "hacked" Sue's email?? Will forward text
if needed...  Charlie

This is a common scam. Someone you know claims to be stranded somewhere and
needs cash ASAP, will repay of course. The eMail is not from the person you
know, but has their name on it. If you send money it is gone.

I did not get the message.

there were a couple of Bruce Jennings' old 911 @ Rennsport this year

another Porsche or two were also spotted

this season's projects are pretty much done

the plan is to wrap up the scanning part of the Bill Dobbins project in January

stay tuned

technical problems have me temporarily stalled @ the 1 yard line to complete the
scanning phase of this project

the good news is that all of the Marlboro photos we have have been scanned

this archives includes many photos from most events at Marlboro from 1966 thru
the end in 1969

there are even some driver's school & autocross photo sets & a couple races were
either never photographed or are missing, most notably the 1967 Trans Am & 1
National in 1968 if I recall

I am also doing a backup tonight (a long story) before I do some work on
cleaning up the archives

the other good news is, while I cogitate on the technical issue that stands in
the way of completing the last couple events in 1970 & 71, I'll start posting
new photos here, as I go thru the images (I really haven't had time to review
them myself)

I have some outstanding & standing requests & will keep others in mind as I go
thru the images once the backup is completed tomorrow morning

I will also be putting together a spreadsheet by year listing the various events
& an image count

I have posted an excel spreadsheet with a sheet for each year 1966-69 with a
list of the events from that year & the number of images from Bill's archives we
have for each event

In some cases I'm not sure what the event was, so they are just labeled Marlboro

All told we have over 9400 images from the Marlboro era

I have yet to finish 1970 & 71, due to some technical issues. When they are done
we will have well over 10,000 images from his archives :0

The spreadsheet is posted under the files menu

The last batch of photos (1969-71) had film from the earlier 1966 September
National, a race from which I feared we had no images

This is really a good set, these are shrunk to 1800 x 1200 pixels from the
original scans which were done @ 2400 dpi in both jpg & tiff formats, so most
can be improved considerably

Anyway, I thought I would start with the F Production race

The images I post are quite large, full screen size or more for almost any
monitor

The "New Photos" link is not the best way to see them, you only can view small
versions of them that way, as far as I can tell

Strangely there are no photos of Bob Tullius' or Buzz Marcus' TR-4s tho both Bob
& Buzz were there. I don't know what the story was, Bob ran the Dart (The Sutter
Mustang won, I think with Rick Mandelson driving

No, at least not where it was the subject, if there is another one, the car is
in the deep background as it is in the one you mentioned. Hadn't even noticed it

been saving the sports racers for a surprise :)

I don't think there are any great shots of the car, except for one from the rear
on the starting grid that I like, but I might be wrong. I'll review that group

I have another old request in mind looking at some '69 photos, I'll get around
to them before long

7+ boxes of 50s, 60s & 70s Car & Drivers, Sports Car Graphics, R&Ts, CP&As, Hot
Rod Magazines, etc plus some Straight Pipes and SCCA literature.  The wife says
I need to get them out of here or I get to sleep with the gardening equipment in
the back shed.  Please help keep an old Marlborite and automotive pack rat out
of the cold.
