Does anyone have a tetnus shot that I could use this weekend and replace next week? My mare was kicked in the vulva and is not up to date.

If you live in AZ you probably know about Basha's stores. Linking your Basha's Thank You card to Equine Eden Horse Rescue (of Maricopa, AZ) will not cost you one penny more when you shop at Basha's, but it will help fund the good work these guys do for horses (and their owners).
The next time you visit the store, please go to the customer service counter immediately upon entering the store (before you buy anything) and ask them to link your Thank You card to Equine Eden (group ID number 25059). Also, if you have any friends or family in AZ, would you please forward this email to them?
Equine Eden is not the largest or best known rescue in the state, but it is one of the best run. They will not take in more horses than they can support. They have both a rescue and a sanctuary program. Right now they have several horses available for adoption and at least one sanctuary horse. They also want to open a gelding fund and euthanasia fund for people who can't afford to geld or humanely euthanize their sick horses.
None of their work will be possible without support from many, many people. If each person who receives this only shops at Basha's a few times between now and the end of March (the donation program only runs September through March) it WILL help.
If you'd like to do more for the horses at Equine Eden, please visit their web page (www.equineeden.org) and make a donation using the PayPal button. You can donate from your PayPal account or via credit card or checking account. Even $5 will be a big help. Last month they had to trade for food and that is making it necessary for them to downsize at a time when they need to be increasing their services. I know the economy is tight, but anything you can do will help.
Thanks so much!

A friend of mine has a daughter who has lost her hair; she's now in remission but still lacking her locks & humor. A few of my friends and I are on a quest to outfit her with some kid's hats that are both silly & youthful. Do you have any crazy hats lying around that you're not using anymore, that you want to help declutter your house of? I'd be happy to come pick them up.
hmmm... don't know way my first message didn't make out, but ...
We ended up with Charlie. Bobby had taken him home overnight. Dawn wanted to see him the next morning, but kept telling me, to tell her 'No'. Which meant to me 'Yes, but I don't want to admin it'!
He's a cutie, but still a puppy so more training is needed, which is new to us as we've never had puppies before. But at least seems housebroken.

When Too Many is Still Not Enough: Animal Hoarding
FLORENCE, AZ – Pinal County Animal Care & Control, as a member of the Central Arizona Animal Cruelty Task Force, is partnering to provide a workshop on animal hoarding. The workshop will be October 30 from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm at the Holiday Inn at 777 North Pinal Avenue in Casa Grande.
“Animal hoarding is a national problem and we’ve certainly seen cases here in Pinal County,” said Ruth Stalter, Director of Pinal County Animal Care & Control. “One of the worst cases ever was the Apache Junction couple who were attempting to care for 185 animals. We assisted Apache Junction Animal Control in that rescue effort and eventually found homes for all but the sickest animals.”
Hoarding often begins with good intentions, Stalter explained. “Then at some point, this 'I-have-to-save- them-all' mentality kicks in. That’s where the trouble begins.”
Stalter also said that many hoarding situations have a mental health component to them, one reason the October event will feature a presentation by Dr. Philinda Hutchings. Hutchings is Program Director and professor of Clinical Psychology at Midwestern University in Glendale, Arizona.
Other speakers include Kimberley Intino, Director of the Human Society of the United States Shelter Services Program. She will give a national perspective and overview of animal hoarding during the morning sessions.
Marsh Myers, Director of Community Outreach for the Humane Society of Southern Arizona in Tucson. He has served on the Animal Cruelty Task Force of Southern Arizona and will discuss the difficulties of investigating hoarding situations.
“The goal of this event is to inform shelter operators, animal control officers, private agencies and other interested parties about the problem of animal hoarding,” Stalter said. “We also want our attendees to learn ways to effectively prevent the problem or deal with situations as they become known.”
Other workshop partners include Against Abuse, Inc of Casa Grande, the Pinal County Attorney’s Office and Petsmart Charities. There is a registration fee of $65, payable to Against Abuse, Inc. The registration form is posted at http://www.against- abuse.org/ id19.html and at www.pinalcountyaz. gov (you’ll need to select Animal Care & Control from the All County Departments menu).

Horses should be Dewormed at least every 8

Are you ready to Deworm
yours?
Deworming your
horses at least every eight weeks helps keep parasites under control and promotes overall health and performance. Horses, mules, and donkeys may carry
several types of parasites at one time: large and small strongyles, roundworms, pinworms, tapeworms, stomach bots (botfly larvae), and lungworm. In
large enough numbers, the parasites can rob your horse of blood, nutrients, and energy. A horse with a heavy parasite load can, over time, suffer
chronic digestive problems. Keep reading for
more information.

Deworming
products are chemicals that go into your horse's digestive system and reduce the number of parasites. The chemicals themselves and the parasite
die-off can disturb the horse's gastrointestinal health by killing the "good bugs" the horse needs for proper
digestion.
Administering
probiotics prior and after deworming
gives the population of "good bugs" a boost, so your horse's gastrointestinal system returns to normal as quickly as
possible.
Available in 240 gram, 5lb and 25lb
containers...a blend of beneficial bacteria (probiotics) to help maintain normal digestive
function. May be presented as a top-dressing to regular feed during times of stress, including colic, transport, post de-worming, and
foaling.

Equine
Eden Rescue Center is a recognized 501(c) 3 non-profit organization
dedicated to the preservation and welfare of abused, neglected and
unwanted Appaloosas and Appaloosa cross horses. Although the rescue is
focused on Appaloosas, we don’t turn away any horse in need if we have an
opening.
We provide a safe environment for horses that have endured starvation,
neglect and physical abuse. Each horse receives medical attention and daily
loving human contact. We strive to rehabilitate and/or retrain each horse in
the hopes that we can locate responsible, caring and loving
homes. Appaloosas unable to be adopted will live out their lives at Equine
Eden or a certified foster home. Our goal is to give each horse a second chance
at life, never having to endure starvation, neglect or abuse ever again.
Equine Eden Rescue Center is in operation for the love of the Appaloosa horse.
More horse rescue organizations are needed because most animal shelters do not
have the facilities to house such large animals. We provide around the clock
care at the Equine Eden facility and strive to eliminate abuse and neglect by
promoting responsible horse ownership through education and community
awareness..
Thunderbird
Fire District and Equine Eden Rescue Center look forward to seeing you all at
the show. More details on the show are available on the Rescue’s website, www.equineeden.org or by calling
520-568-9315.
Check out our website http://www.equineeden.org. It's easy to donate using our PayPal button. Also use Good Search as your default search engine and Equine Eden will get a penny for every search you do.
Shop http://www.horse.com / Country Supply and put "equineeden" in the Country Care code box. A portion of your order will go to the rescue.
Yes it is Sept 26th. The first page has the right date, the second page with the upcoming dates was wrong. Flyer has only been wrong for 6 months now! LOL

Thanks Paula. I use a holistic immunization system of "nosodes", but they recommend traditional Tetnus shots. I just don't want the grief of a vet lecturing me about not using traditional vaccinations.
