That crossed my mind also. So far, I have tried it only from Grand
with MTS (as I am a very recent cell subscriber). It worked.
According to MTS' coverage map they have 1x and digital coverage at
all the main spots with digital and analog towers or digital towers
nearby. Rogers coverage appears slightly less than MTS in the
northern parts of the Interlake and Whiteshell. Telus appears
similar to MTS' coverage area except it looks analog around the Lake
Manitoba shoreline.
That said, "The availability and quality of the Service will depend
on the location of antenna sites and atmospheric, topographic and
other conditions. The Service may also be disrupted due to
maintenance, repair, or other network issues. MTS cannot guarantee
uninterrupted or error-free Service, nor does MTS make any other
representation as to coverage or quality of the Service."
The ability to send and receive is also affected by the position and
quality of your units antenna and battery charge.
Hopefully we can get this going with more people quickly and find
out what our actual coverage is.
