hi all,

Finally broke down + bought a "Snowfer". http://www.snowfer.com/ It's great.
Lots like
windsurfing but fewer mosquitoes. I sail on Jessica Lake in the Whiteshell Park
- my usual
haunt in the summer. Now that lake has some snow on it, the experience has
changed and it
is (I think) even better than cruising on bare ice. Speedy and great workout. I
use my summer
gear - have it rigged in a shelter lean-to next to the cottage. 9.0 (which gets
me going in
virtually no wind at all), 7.4 and 6.5. Will rig 4.7 if this wind keeps up. Got
a Garmin Foretrex
GPS for xmas, so will be tracking speed.

If kiters are out this way, drop in for a beverage. You'll see a red flag
mounted on a busted
carbon mast out on the ice - our cottage is the brown/green trim one near that.
