Tim,
I'm confused....remember that this was debated when you were in Hawaii...I
think we settled on Calichicas was an under 18 , not an under 19 team...so is
there a Calichicas under  18 team?

Subject: [MVLACoaches] Fall 01 MVLA Schedules

I count the following 24 teams as needing club scheduling:
Breakers, Calichicas13, Cheetahs, Cougars, Devils, Dynamos,
Earthquakes2, Flash, Galaxy, Gladiators, GunnersGold, GunnersSilver,
Lightning, Lobos, Magic, Menace, Mercury, Nightmares, Shooting Stars,
Storm, Strikers, Titans, United & Vipers.

Are Calichicas13 and Vipers MVLA teams? I think so, but couldn't tell
from the schedule web pages

Three teams, Griffin, Eagles and Untouchables are scheduled thru
Abronzino League or Sunnyvale League.

Five teams may have disbanded or I missed them on my scan of the
schedules. They are:
Calichicas U19, Les Etoiles, Bullets & Jaguars.

PLEASE LET ME KNOW IMMEDIATELY IF THERE ARE ANY ERRORS OR OMISSIONS.

Tom,

Does this mean I need not attend Wednesday's meeting since home fields for
the Griffin's games will not be assigned to us at that time. Please advise.

Thanks, Albert >>

Albert:

No. The schedule is set at the September MVLA Club meeting, right before
the
season starts. To avoid conflict with the mandatory Abronzino meeting on
Sep
4, the MVLA meeting has been rescheduled to Tuesday, August 28, 7:30 PM, at
the usual Hillview location. At this meeting, home field game times and
locations will be assigned.

Here's how it has worked in the past: For each home date, Tom Gardner,
Referee Coordinator, gives each team with a home game on that date a random
number. Team representatives get to choose game time and location in nume
rical order for each date. Depending upon game day (Sat or Sun), different
fields will be available. Often Tom has to block certain times to assure
that he can provide sufficient referee coverage across multiple fields. As
you might expect, this meeting is well-attended.

So, you will know your home schedule by the end of this meeting. Tom
usually
also e-mails the full schedule to the teams, which ocassionally goes through
revisions as teams juggle the initial schedule with the visiting opponents.
MVLA does not have a website for posting the schedule. Each team can choose
to list their home schedule in the "Name and Location of or Directions to
Home Field(s)" section of their individual team page on the Abronzino or
C3PL
site.

I hope this helps.

Fellow MVLA Coaches,

As your loyal and dedicated Club Coaching Coordinator I'm pleased to
facilitate providing this opportunity for your goalies. This is also
just
in time for the fall season!

As most of you are aware, Joe Cannon played for 10 years in MVLA for
Alberto
Montoya. He is the starting goalie for the San Jose Earthquakes,
and, as
the "Best in West", the starting goalie in the MLS All-Star Game here
in San
Jose on July 28 (tickets are going fast, check out
http://www.sjearthquakes.com, and cheer Joe on!).

Not only is Joe an excellent player, he is also an excellent teacher
and is
willing to give back to the community! Joe gave a coaching goalies
session
a few months ago to MVLA Coaches which was very well received.

Joe has put together a curriculum to be delivered in 2 parts. It is
attached in a Microsoft Word document. Part 1 follows as text in the
event you have trouble accessing the attachment. Each part is
designed for
3 successive weeks: 2 meetings a week. The location will be Grant
Park in
Los Altos.

The full curriculum (both parts) is attached. Part 1 is scheduled to
begin
Wednesday August 15. Subsequent sessions in Part 1: Thursday August
16,
Tuesday August 21, Thursday August 23, Tuesday August 28, Thursday
August
30. Sessions will start at 6:30PM and last an hour if the kids
are "on it"
or 1.5 hours if they're not. Part 2 is not currently scheduled.

To facilitate planning Joe wanted to provide a price break for
committing
early.
The cost is $150 for registering before August 1 and $180
afterwards. Joe
also provides
Monday "drop in" sessions starting at 6:30 during the summer. Please
contact me
if you are interested in the mini-camp or the drop in sessions.

Personally, I'm thrilled that Joe is interested in working with the
kids and
making this opportunity available.

Subject: Coaching Clinic Opportunity for "perfect technique" and motivating players
sergioc@...

As a result of my experiences seeing Soccer Waza present well received and
effective clinics, I proposed to the Board that we make this opportunity
available to the Club's Coaches. However, in view of the limited attendance
clinics similar to this have experienced in the past, we will use the
following: the value of this clinic will be underscored by getting a
commitment and having participating coaches pay $10. If sufficient
"critical mass" is not achieved, then the clinic will not be held. Please
reply to me (sergioc@...) rather than posting to the coaches list. If
we have critical mass, the session will be held 6:30-8:30 at Hillview on
Wednesday August 29.

For additional background on Soccer Waza see their local Web site
http://SoccerWazaCA.MyWaza.com and the main Web site
http://www.soccerwaza.com.

Please reply to me by August 17 to confirm attendance and achieve our
critical mass.

Your Loyal and Dedicated Coaching Coordinator,

Sergio Ciccolella

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
-

Notes on the agenda from Soccer Waza Master Coach Phil:

The 'perfect technique' is a philosophy to encourage consistency and
improvement to have effortless technique. Many players limit their ability
to improve for several reasons. A few reasons are their practice methods,
either not being corrected in practice or continuing the routine of bad
technique, not able to 'unlearn' the improper technique. The perfect
technique is to educate coaches and players to increase their awareness.

The purpose of this Coaches' Clinic is to provide beneficial knowledge to
improve your players insight and technique.

Motivation is learned many ways. Soccer Waza teaches motivation through
positive thinking and detachment. Players are able to look beyond the
obstacle
and persist with good technique one step at a time. This motivates positive

As we discussed at the last meeting and will discuss further on Tuesday
August 7, we are planning a very special evening on Friday September 14 from
7PM to 8:30PM at the Los Altos Youth Center (LAYC) near downtown Los Altos.

This evening will serve to recognize the quality of the people and the
program which is the MVLA Soccer Club. Food and beverages will be served.
The plan is for teams to bring dessert to share. Further details will be
provided. Please forward these preliminaries to your teams' families so
they can plan for it on their schedules. Featured speakers will be Joe
Cannon, current starting San Jose Earthquakes and All-Star goalie, and
Albertin Montoya, former San Jose Earthquakes player and now an accomplished
coach/trainor in the area.

I believe parents will begin to see the talent base at this club's
foundation. Players will begin to see how motivation and effort can make
dreams a reality. I am looking forward to a great turnout!

Please advise your teams.

Your Loyal and Dedicated Coaching Coordinator,

Sergio Ciccolella

Interested E Class coaches,

Unfortunately, the E class will have to be postponed.
The district was not able to schedule an instructor
for the class. We are trying to find a weekend in late
August that works for an instructor and our coaches.

I will update you when I get more information.

Thanks,

Jeff Farrell

Coaches who sent eMail to Jeff should have already received this
information. This is a great opportunity to jump start your licensing if
you haven't already.

The details had been worked out by Alberto and communicated via eMail a few

Fellow MVLA Coaches,

As your loyal and dedicated Club Coaching Coordinator I'm pleased to
facilitate providing this opportunity for your goalies. This is also just
in time for the fall season!

As most of you are aware, Joe Cannon played for 10 years in MVLA for Alberto
Montoya. He is the starting goalie for the San Jose Earthquakes, and, as
the "Best in West", the starting goalie in the MLS All-Star Game here in San
Jose on July 28 (tickets are going fast, check out
http://www.sjearthquakes.com, and cheer Joe on!).

Not only is Joe an excellent player, he is also an excellent teacher and is
willing to give back to the community! Joe gave a coaching goalies session
a few months ago to MVLA Coaches which was very well received.

Joe has put together a curriculum to be delivered in 2 parts. It is
attached in a Microsoft Word document. Part 1 follows as text in the
event you have trouble accessing the attachment. Each part is designed for
3 successive weeks: 2 meetings a week. The location will be Grant Park in
Los Altos.

The full curriculum (both parts) is attached. Part 1 is scheduled to begin
Wednesday August 15. Subsequent sessions in Part 1: Thursday August 16,
Tuesday August 21, Thursday August 23, Tuesday August 28, Thursday August
30. Sessions will start at 6:30PM and last an hour if the kids are "on it"
or 1.5 hours if they're not. Part 2 is not currently scheduled.

To facilitate planning Joe wanted to provide a price break for committing
early.
The cost is $150 for registering before August 1 and $180 afterwards. Joe
also provides
Monday "drop in" sessions starting at 6:30 during the summer. Please
contact me
if you are interested in the mini-camp or the drop in sessions.

Personally, I'm thrilled that Joe is interested in working with the kids and
making this opportunity available.

Sergio Ciccolella
