Law and Rule Changes   Message List

Three changes to Laws or Rules for this season are:

* Ejectced players are not required to leave field.
* Teams may experiment with ball size and game duration
* U8 & U9 - no PK's; retry's on throw-ins can be allowed

Details are below:

1 ------------------------------------------------------------------
CYSA passed the following new rule regarding player ejections:

4:08:07 Any player ejected (sent off) from a game shall remain on
the sidelines with his or her team and not leave that area without
the permission of a team official. Any team official ejected (sent
off) from a game shall leave the vicinity of the field of play and
the area in which the game is being played. In the event that a team
official is ejected (sent off) and there is no other team official
properly registered to that team present, the game shall be
terminated

2 ----------------------------------------------------------------
District 2 Spring League Rule
***** GAME LENGTH AND BALL SIZE ******

The Spring League follows regular CYSA modified rules for game
length, number of players and ball size, with the following
exceptions:

- Number of players: U10 teams are playing 11x11, and U8 teams are
playing 8x8

- Also, it is possible to play the length of the age group that the
teams will be in the Fall, as long as both coaches agree prior to the
game. The important thing is that the 2 halves be of equal length.
The same thing applies to ball sizes.

For example: U12 teams can play either 30 minutes halves (current
age) or 35 minute halves (U13 age that they are going to be in the
Fall). Same thing with the ball size, either #4 or #5. As long as
both coaches agree and they notify the referee of their choice prior
to the starting of the game. So for U12s you can play your game 4
different ways:
1) 30 minute halves with a size #4 ball
2) 30 minute halves with a size #5 ball
3) 35 minute halves with a size #4 ball
4) 35 minute halves with a size #5 ball

Remember again, be flexible. Communication goes a long way to avoid
misunderstandings. Talk to the referee and explain this guideline to
them, if they are adamant about a ball size or length of the game.
Have a copy of this announcement and show it to them.

For more information about game length, number of players and ball
size, go to the "Rules + Info" section of this website and click on
the "Number of Players, Game Duration and Ball Size" link.

Addition:
Teams can only experiment with the ball size and game length of the
next Fall season, if both teams agree. If one team wants to play the
game by the CYSA modified rules with respect to ball size and game
length as the previous Fall season, than the game must be played
conforming to CYSA rules for that age.
If you ask your opponent to play under the current age CYSA game
length and ball size rules, and your opponent refuses to do it or
gives you a hard time about it, please let me know.

3-------------------------------------------------------------------
District 2 Spring League Rule
***** PLAYING RULES FOR TEAMS PLAYING 8x8 *****

U8s and U9s boys & girls are playing 8x8 in the Spring League. This
is the same format they will be playing in the Fall. Since the
majority of teams will be playing in the Delgado League in the Fall,
we are adopting that league's modified rules of play for the 8x8 game.

Here's a link to it:
http://www.cysadistrict2.org/c3pl/u9u10rules.pdf

Please read the rules and let us know if you have any questions.
There are 3 important points:
1) No penalty kicks. Direct free kick infractions anywhere in the
penalty area should be taken from the penalty area line closest to
where the infraction occurred.

2) Players should be at least 8 yards away from any free kick, goal
kick or kick-off.

3) The modified rules state to allow one re-throw on throw-ins. Our
suggestion is for the coaches to get together before the game and
discuss whether re-throws should be allowed or not during the game,
and notify the referee before the game starts.
