MVLA mid-age teams (u11-u13):

I reported last week that CityLA had unexpectedly closed Grant, despite our weekend permit going through 2/22 (see original email below FYI)

After discussion with the powers that be, I succeeded in getting them to rescind their work plan temporarily.  They will reinstall the goals and cease work.  In consideration of their gaffe (some new ops people there) they have expanded our weekend permit for these next two weeks to the full workweeks as well.  (They have also offered to credit the cost of time lost until now).  So for this brief span, we have M-F and Sat/Sun. 

I know this is little consolation to the teams who have already been disrupted by this situation, but at least for a bit we have some extra space. 

I will be allocating the space by moving those disrupted back onto Grant first, then add those possible per waiting list requests.  If any of you without fields want to throw me a request, I'll see what I can do.

The dates/times:

2/6-2/22
M-F 3:30-6pm (can assign 3:30-5, 4-5:30, or stack two slots 3:30-4:15, 4:15-5:45, depending on how many requests I get)
Sat 8:00-6:00
Sun 10:00-6:00

Once the field closes after 2/22, Grant is expected to reopen beginning of May.

MVLA:

Grant is closed for the season and will not reopen until May.

As you may have known, we had a weekend permit to Grant through 2/22.  Several of you have reservations at Grant.   It was reported by an MVLA team yesterday that the goals were removed and locked to fence yesterday and following up with the City, they have indeed closed the field early due to conditions and planned work.  I apologize to all teams who will be affected by this, and this behavior is unusual for City of LA.  There have been some personnel changes within the rec department and I will be following up this coming week to understand how this major decision fell in the cracks, especially given that I am in the heat of field negotiations with the City and other users.

All teams currently with reservations in Feb at Grant will get a follow up email from me.  If you do not hear from me within the next few days, please ping.  I will address in chronological order of reservation date.
