Sorry for the lateness of this, but fencing practice starts up again Thursday,
January 18th (tomorrow) and is every Thursday 8-10 and Sunday 6-8, at basketball
court one at the rec center. These are the same times as last semester.

We'll be having an info session sometime in the near future for those who are
interested in joining the club. The rec center is having a big expo thing on
the 24th and we need volunteers to work that, I can handle the table sutff, but
if people want the gear up and fence in the middle of the floor, that would be
nice. Also we'll need to get a display that looks pretty so if anyone has any
ideas, just bring them up at a practice sometime.

So I think that's about it for now, and I hope to see you guys soon

Hello,
Time for another wonderful email from your president. Tomorrow is the
Activities Mart. It runs 10-2 at Lowery Mall. We will have table 57 reserved
for the fencing club and I will help set things up in the morning. I have a
poster and some fliers about our first meeting info time. What I need is more
people to work the 1-2 shift or any other shift during the time. So if you can
work that one hour slot let me know. Also if you ever get bored during the day,
just stop the the table and help out for a little bit. Hopefully we'll get a
lot of interest and enough people working the table so it will be fun for the
workers.

I have signed us up for the Activities Mart. I know it's an annoying thing, but
really reaches a large audience. The activities mart is on September 6th and
runs 10am to 2 pm. I have class during a good chunk of that time so I need
volunteers to sit at a table for the other times. I can help set up and will be
there after 1:00. I need to know if anyone can be there for the earlier times.
Let me know if you don't have class. If you don't have class, you should be
doing this. Even if it is just for an hour between class, help us out.
Let me know asap

Hey,
Sorry to be sending out another annoying email, but the date of the first
meeting is changing again. Apparently, the rec center is closing early the days
of Labor Day weekend and we won't be able to meet at the time previously
mentioned. I just got informed about that, so I appoligize for the confusion.
Therefore, the first meeting time will be 8:00, at basketball court one, on
Thursday the 7th of September.
Hey, at least I'm keeping you informed about things.
If you are totally confused let me know. Just don't show up on Sunday, they
won't let you in.

Hello,
The first meeting time for new members interested in the MU Fencing Club will be
next Sunday, September 3RD. Sorry about any date mix up that might have occured
before. The meeting will be 6-8 at basketball court one, at the rec center.
There will be a lot of paperwork and information. I know it's labor day
weekend, so there may be people who can't make the meeting. Therefore, the
secondary meeting will be Thursday (Sept 7th) 8-10, at basketball court one at
the rec center. These two days (Sunday and Thursday at the above times) will be
the normal meeting times. If there are any problems, issues, or questions, let
me know.

Hello, to everyone on the list. Make sure that you actually want to
be getting emails from the club, so if not, you can go through Yahoo
and get unlisted or whatever. Hopefully everyone here is all
excited about getting the fencing year started.

As a general announcement, practice times this year will be from ***
8-10 on Thursday nights and 6-8 on Sunday nights***. Someone or
other beat us to the early time on Thursdays but I'm not worried
because people seemed to want a later time anyway, going from the
time a lot of people showed up.

So I'm pretty sure that the first practice time will be Thursday the
31st at Basketball court one, 8-10.

I have received a ton of emails from interested people so I think I
will send them to Sunday practice (the sunday after the 31st, the
2nd I guess it is)and maybe have an informal meeting the next Monday
or Tuesday night at Mem Union. I don't know for sure yet.
The activities fair is coming up and I think it would be a good time
to do some recruiting so let me know what you think about that or if
you'd be willing to help with working shifts.
If there is any imput before things actually get started, shoot me
an email.
I should be seeing everyone sometime soon then.

Hello everyone,
The end of the semester is almost here and I assume that none of you
have been coming to fencing because you are so busy getting studying
done and all that fun stuff.  I have decided that the last official
day of fencing will be this Sunday, April 30th.  However, if people
still want to fence through finals week, let me know and we can extend
things a little.  Another thing with the end of the semester, I NEED
ALL OF YOUR EQUIPMENT OR I WILL HUNT YOU DOWN!!  Bring it this Sunday,
or email me to set up a return.  I hope that everyone has had a good
year and I hope to see some of you again next year, and the ones that
I don't, well, good luck doing whatever you will be doing next year.

Hey, I have a little update for everyone. First off, I will not be
able to show up this Thursday, but I'll make sure there are enough
epees and body cords to go around for everyone. Second, this Sunday,
the 19th is a beginning Foil and Open Saber tournament. I know that
some people know and if they show up they should have some
information. Though, if people are interested and need the info, send
me an email and I can get the info out. So because there are possible
tournaments coming up I would like people to focus on either doing
saber if they are into that, or the proper form of bouting in dry
foil. Experienced people, help out, and let me know if you want to go
to any of the tournaments.

this semester things appear to be starting a little earlier. So if it
is possible, it would be really cool if people would show up on the

Kansas City Fencing is awesome and I have had my butt
kicked by a number of Lincoln Fencing women over the
years. (*grins* Although I did some pretty hardcore
butt kicking myself)

The ME finally managed to publish our article, so try and grab it before they change papers tomorrow! I grabbed a HUGE stack, too, so I might have one if you miss it. It can also be seen at http://themaneater.com/article.php?id=22595 And if you're cool enough to have the paper copy, there's a tiny Corey on the front! heh

To whomever may be interested, we are holding a mixed
epee tournament at William Woods on November 19th.
Close of registration will be 9am, and registration is
$15, USFA membership required. The venue is the Helen
Stephens Sports Complex, located on the William Woods
campus in Fulton, MO. Maps and directions can be
found at http://www.williamwoods.edu/Category.asp?94
The Lincoln Fencing Club and Kansas City Fencing Club
will be doing a demonstration for the William Woods
Students at 1pm, which hopefully won't interrupt the
flow of the tournament and or we will just integrate
some of the direction elimination bouts as part of the
demo. We are planning on demonstration all three
weapons so there will be some other foil and sabre
fencers around to practice with, but we don't really
have time to hold any other competitions. I expect
the tournament to be an A rated tournament. If you
aren't able to make it this time around, I plan
organizing some other events in the future. I would
love to collaborate with you guys on that if you are
interested, but mostly I would love to have people to
fence. You can contact me at this e-mail address or
call me at 402-525-8864. Thanx

You're alive? I think there are two of us doing sabre now if you ever want to
come on back.

We are intrigued. Any other specifics and updates about the clinic
would be appreciated.

Just as a random sword thing, Bruce Sikes will be holding a medieval
broadsword clinic up here, location tba, the 12th of November from
noon to 4:00. There would be a cost of $25 for the afternoon. It is
to be a basic intro to the broadsword, both two handed and one handed
fighting syle. There is a limit of ten people due to sword number
limits so I thought I'd throw it out to any interested fencing
people. If you are interested (and interested in paying the money) in
learning broadsword let me, Katie, know, or you can email me and ask
questions about it or whatever. Just FYI.
